Dr. Alan Wyche Bickel, MD

I would give a negative rating if I could. Dr. Bickel would not listen to details or answer our questions. When he disagreed with our prognosis (because we've had kidney stones before) he became rude and combative, then asked us to leave. Horrible attitude, would not recommend.

The staff in the office are most unprofessional! I waited for over an hour ( my husband was in with Dr. Bickel), and I had the opportunity to hear all of the negative remarks, disrespect and criticism of patients. It seemed the staff was more interested in their private lives than in serving the patients.

I have been going to see Dr Bickel for a number of years off and on. Fortunately for myself I have worked in the same field of work that Dr Bickel excels at. So I guess my knowledge of what to have expected Helped with my visits. Since He was aware of my intelligence in what I was to expect. Yes his office staff could be improved. It helps to have eye contact with the Dr when you explain your problem. Let him know that you are aware of his intentions and what you expect of him. I Had kidney stones and he did my procedure on a Sunday knowing the excruciating pain I was going through. I for one had a reasonably good experience. Except he never came to see me at the Hospital bed before the procedure to explain what he was going to do. But again he probably already knee that since I had worked on that field I already knew what to expect ? But still it was his responsibility to touch base with me if for only 5 minutes and he didn't. He is a good intellectual Dr for what he does… . But could use some improvements.

Took more than 1 1/2 hr wait no consideration whatsoever they over book tremendously! Love to find another urologist!!! Mine retired so i ended up here!

Terrible Doctor... Poor patient care...

Dr Bickel himself was always very good. His staff up front could not be more rude or unorganized

This doctor treated me for large Kidney Stones. He was efficient, and got me through my crisis. I did not feel rushed, nor did I feel he or his staff were rude. At one point he even demonstrated a sense of humor. I feel he is a good doctor.

Dr. Bickel is the worst doctor I have ever encountered. As soon I had questions, and had to let him know that I could not take a prescription that he had written out for me (which I had just told him which antibiotics I could not take, the prescription was for an antibiotic that I had just told him not 5 minutes before that, that I could not take it), he got angry and told me to FIND ANOTHER DOCTOR. He had not read my chart before seeing me and said, you are here for a check up. I said no, and he rolled his eyes! He has the mentality and attitude of "how dare you question me". He is not friendly, talks down to you, and acts bothered that he even has to spend time with you for the appointment. He treats his staff horrible, and feel they can do nothing because he own the practice, and he does not answer to anyone. Unfortunately, alot of his patients must feel they are stuck, because he goes down to La Junta, CO to see patients, and since they are in a rural part of the state, they don't… have a lot of choices of good doctors (he definitely is not one of them), and they cannot travel to Pueblo, Colorado. He must not realize that it's us, the patients that allow him to bring that paycheck home every month! I would not recommend this doctor, if he was the last doctor on this planet!!

I read the 4 reviews posted here and nearly didn't go to this doctor because of them. One thing to keep in mind is that people who are unhappy will seek out a place to express their unhappiness, but people who are happy and pleased don't normally think about writing a review.I did go to this office, first seeing Dr. Richard Brownrigg who is located in this same practice with Dr. Bickle. I'd already been in 2 ERs and seen a GP and another urologist before going here, and I am just thanking God that I gave this office a try.Dr. Brownrigg is very experienced, caring, attentive and thorough. He took plenty of time to answer all of my questions (and I had a lot) and go over all options thoroughly. I felt relieved and well cared for. I called in with a follow up concern and it was address very quickly and fully. My next appointment was unscheduled, I had an issue and they worked me into Dr. Bickle's day. Even with being worked in I had a very short wait (10 mins or less). Dr.… Bickle was fully attentive, took as much time with me as I needed, gave me solid information and I felt that he was caring and looking out for my best interest. The staff in this office is just amazing. They were all friendly, cheerful and comforting. I felt that they truly cared that I was attended to and that I understood everything. I've been in bigger urology offices in Col Springs and felt the cold breeze of indifference where you're basically a number on a file and nothing more. This office is not that. This is a very human and very caring office of dedicated people.I give this practice as many stars as allowed here and feel very fortunate that they're caring for me.

The earlier comments relating to "cattle herding" is unfortunately true. I do think Dr. Bickel is a good and caring man, but he simply sees too many people per day. And, that makes for a rushed and harried visit.I wonder if too many of his patients are like me, on Medicare. Low reimbursements means he either has to ditch patients or rush them through.
