Dr. Alan Stuart Chanales, MD

Let me start this by acknowledging upfront that I missed an appointment. I’ll get back to that. I tried for 6 months to successfully get an appointment with Dr. Chanales. It was rescheduled multiple times for various reasons. The final time being because he needed to be “out of the office” at the last minute. Life happens. I get it. He’s a specialist and clearly very busy. The fact that I was desperate for an appointment and had been waiting a very long time didn’t matter though. I’m just the patient and completely at the mercy of his changing availability. Fast forward, my appointment finally comes around (now 7 months after I initially tried to be seen). I had a death in the family. I’m acknowledging upfront my part in this. I did not have the opportunity to call to cancel or reschedule. I they received a voicemail from Dr. Chanales that was truly the most unprofessional thing I’ve ever heard from a medical professional. He wanted me to know that I’d wasted his time. I quote: “It’s… unfair to the many other patients who are desperate to get into see me.” You think?!? I’m literally one of those people. But I didn’t leave him a voicemail telling him how unfair it was to me to keep getting rescheduled. I’ll continue to quote: “It’s rude, unfair to me, and costs me money.” He then went on to tell me that he was sending me a $200 “no-show” fee, which I will NOT be paying. But that sums it up. This doctor cares about himself and making money. He clearly does not care about patients. I had a reasonable excuse for missing the appointment and fully intended to call to apologize and start the process all over again… I did NOT want to miss this appointment, because I know from experience that it means waiting another 6 months wait to be seen. I know that no one reads these reviews. I know Dr. Chanales won’t ever see this, and clearly wouldn’t care if he did. But if just one person reads this and goes elsewhere to seek treatment, it’s worth the time it took to write this. Dr. Chanales sits in a position of power, and people in power who behave badly deserve to be called out for it.

Dr. Chanales is a one-of-a-kind physician. This gentle man is brilliant, compassionate, kind and cares about every single patient. He gives you as much time as you need and is available to you 24 hours a day. He is conscientious, makes the correct diagnosis and is relentless in finding answers to your problems. He has saved my life and has renewed my life. Thank you Doctor and your wonderful staff. Anyone who finds you is lucky to have you.

If you are visiting this Doctor you are a lucky person! He is extremely smart and experienced. Not only does he find the correct diagnosis but he is relentless in treating you with intelligence, compassion and tenacity. He is personal and personable. He really cares about every patient. In addition to being extremely bright and caring he is a man who loves his patients and has a good sense of humor. He will always be there for you. He has been here for me and my father before me. My father lived much longer because of the incredible skills and heart of Dr. Chanales. Thank you Dr. Chanales for being so accessible and always being there for us. You are a special human being.

If you are lucky enough to find this doctor you will soon know why. He is an "old fashioned" type doc who is really dedicated to you, his patient. He listens, he is really smart, he diagnoses correctly, he keeps in contact with you, he prescribes meds that really help, orders only necessary tests (he knows and does not miss!). He is kind and has a sense of humor. You are never rushed. He has given me my life back. Dr. C. is the best doc I have ever gone to.

I have been going to Dr. Chanales for years and would never go to another doc. He diagnosed my problem and I am living a good life because of him. He prescribes the right medications, keeps tabs on my progress, treats me with great respect, gives me all the time I need, never rushes me, answers my questions, follows up with me by phone in between visits. Has a great office staff. They do so much to help you. I do not know what I would do without him! If you have a pulmonary problem, see Dr. Chanales. He will help you.

He is smart, listens, takes good history, explains everything, does not rush and is correct in his diagnosis. A great guy, follows up and really cares. You are lucky to have him if you need him.
