Dr. Alan Hugh Cherkasky, MD

I saw Alan in Urgent Care for a chronic digestive issue that I've been battling for over a year now. He could tell that I was distraught and I began to cry because he was completely unreceptive w/r/t my issues. He was staring at his phone for the better half of our meeting -- no joke!! He finally told me to take a walk because its Earth Day and his brother invented Earth Day, or something -- certainly that would cure my mental anxiety and my very real stomach problems! Well, it's been months and the issue has only gotten worse. I'll be seeing a specialist soon, but Alan is hardly worthy of the MD title. He even wrote disrespectfully about me in the After Visit Summary, which I just now saw, and which prompted this review. Extremely disrespectful and lacking compassion.

Rude, dismissive. Didn't listen to symptoms. 'Diagnosed' me with his opinion of the situation even though it didn't align with what I told him. He kept telling me the 'solution' to my specific symptom was to change my diet (without ever asking about how and what I actually do eat). Multiple times he talked about how to stop my diarrhea, which is when I realized this guy was out of it... I do not have diarrhea; quite the opposite really! He also went against my wishes and requested a test that my PCP advised highly against. I told him that I trusted my PCP, but he did it anyway. I got a second opinion the next day, and she had an extremely different opinion and said that none of my symptoms aligned with this doctor's diagnosis. Do not trust him. If you go to him, plan on getting a second opinion.

Spoke with Alan using "Teladoc" as a virtual medium for a covered dependent. He was aggressive & inappropriate with her. When I engaged he became even more aggressive and hung up when I asked for his name. This guy needs some counseling - This guy is a joke

He was an excellent doctor always inspiring me to do my best in health concerns. He is greatly missed in the valley. Minneapolis you are blessed.

arrogant, dismissive, refused to accept what I knew was the diagnosis. Had to see another Dr. to get the medicine I needed. He walked into the room smug, said "I know what you want and I wont give it to you.Thankfully another Dr. did. Then he wrote a scathing two pages about how disrespectful "I' was.

Dr. Al is an excellent Physician. Very kind, understanding and makes a patient feel very comfortable. Has an excellent personality! =)

I would give less than a star for all of the above. I was concerned with my sons medication and that he only weighs 32 pounds at almost 7 years old, Dr. Cherkasky's response " Last I checked, your son couldn't drive himself to the McDonalds drive through"... well child exam completed in less than 5 minutes.. no heart, lung, or bowel check, no questions about behavior or sleeping patterns.. nothing. But hey at least he got paid right? They ran it through my insurance as a well child visit and said " well it was covered 100 percent so I dont understand the issue" my issue is that I paid to have a Doctor yell at me... then had to switch to a completely different clinic to get a well child visit that was accurate!!!! Absolutely dissatisfied!

Told me a brown spot I had was a birth mark - thank God I got a second opinion because it turned out to be melanoma! He is a very arrogant person and makes "jokes" that are NOT funny when you are ill!!!!! My husband has been fighting liver disease and waiting for a liver transplant for two years, and when we went to see him recently he entered the exam room by saying "Oh, are you still alive?" I was absolutely horrified since we have been fighting so hard to keep him alive until he can receive his transplant! Needless to say, we have changed doctors!

My entire family has seen him at one point or another. Anyone in my family who is of normal weight has no qualms with him. If you're overweight, he's curt and attributes any problem that you're experiencing to your weight. While weight causes some problems, it doesn't cause all issues. He's said before that he used to weigh a lot more, so I think he's got some sort of issue reliving his past obesity. I've never had this issue with any other doctor, just Dr. Cherkasky.
