Dr. Alan Chu, MD, MD

I went to see Dr. Chu after months of pain and my Dr at the time not listening to me. I have MRI'S and x-rays done right before of my back and hip, I had back surgery in 08 and I've had problems ever since. The reason I went was I started having sever hip pain keeping me up for days at a time and blood pressure thru the roof and constant crying. He looked at my pictures and like other Dr's told me my back and hips were beautiful and my surgeon did a beautiful job. He recommended that I go to this physical therapist that will work with me to pull all the pain from my hip and put it all back into my back where it always was then pull all the pain from my back!! What kind of craziness is that?? I obviously didn't do it. I found a spine specialist and he found 6 problems with my back from the SAME pictures I showed Dr. Chu. My fusion from 08 never fused, the lump where all my pain has always been and everyone said it was nothing was a mass of bone that's been growing for 8 yrs because my… back was trying to heal itself, I had a severely crushed nerve which was causing the hip pain, my screws were loose pushing some of my vertebrae forward, my cage from surgery was plastic and crushed and my one screw was broken in half. I needed to have surgery to fix all of the pain and problems. So I just had a 2 stage 15 hr surgery where they went in thru my stomach and back, then into my back again the second stage. I am now almost completely pain free for the first time in almost 15 years. Thanks God for the spine specialist I was recommended to or I'd still be seeing Dr after Dr and being told there was nothing wrong. Dr. Chu obviously doesn't know how to look at mri's and x-rays and see what isn't right. If you have back problems I highly recommend Dr. Carmen Petraglia, I was referred to him by 3 people that also had surgery done by him. He is a miracle worker.

Dr. Chu is a caring, wonderful physician who truly cares for his patients. His staff is professional and competent. An excellent physician , and that I am truly fortunate to be in his care.

I had gotten injured on the job 5 yrs ago. I saw far too many doctors all claiming torn muscles as the extent of my injuries. Dr Chu found the real hidden injury (damaged disks) and he helped me significantly. Nothing but high praise and gratitude , he and his staff excel .

he makes me feel like a liar! And that my pain isn't there. I do everything he asks of me. And told me to see a shrink!! I'm not crazy I'm in pain. And tired of hearing I dnt know what's wrong. He acts like he cares to your face. He will ask how are you feeling but I get the impression he really doesn't care. And I'm just a number to him.

I had a appointment at 10:30 he didnt see me until 12:30 by that time i was mad i got there 15 mins early, No one was in the waiting room, he then proceeds to tell me i have arthritis in my neck hence the reason i cant move it to the side, , he did tell me i noticed your gait is off really bad, and he did read my records that i have a foot drop and swallowing issues, etc... but told me all this has to do with Arthritis, so i made a follow up appoitnment with him but i went to see a RA DOCTOR in the meantime, ,i asked him if that Lesion on my neck is due to any kind of Arthritis he said NO..i also have spine pain , which he said , the mri was clear but said that was arthritis im not a doctor but how can that be when he said, my mri of my spine was CLEARED... then he proceeded to tell me how my body frame is so small, what does this have to do with anything... i did bring with me the findings from the RA Doctor,, he said, nothing , i told him no thank u i will go to someone else,

Dr Chu the most caring, compassionate, thorough doctor I have ever been to and there have been alot. He is super knowledgeable and if there is something he doesn't know he will take his time to find the answer and will follow up on it with you. He truly is invested in his patients and if he can't help you he will find the person who can. If you are lucky enough to become his patient count your blessings!

Most caring, attentive, professional and knowledgeable medical doctor that i have seen in a long time. In order to see the good doctors we have to get use to waiting. I am glad i live in the age of technology for the wait can be long ( so i just keep my self busy ) but very much worth it.

I would NOT recommend Dr. Chu.

Dr. Chu is unlike any other doctor I have ever seen. He is caring, understanding, and empathetic to your problems. He makes you feel good about yourself in spite of your weaknesses or challanges and helps you remain hopeful. He thinks outside the box and helps you find ways to deal with your pain alongside any medication or procedures you may already be doing.
