Dr. Alan Graff, MD

I was a patient for years and when he sold or took in other patients all fell apart. I knew staff that last, and met many people at other doctors that told me they left also due to poor office operation and his lack of care and etc to those patients that he still continues to see (Seems he semi retired) Whwn I lewft i requested my records be sent to new primary several time and signed releases. To this dayone year later my primary never received any of my history. I called his office several times and received nothing but lies and disconnected calls. At least when he had his original staff and nurses they would assist. I give his office a very poor and money hungry operation. Only Beau on referalls was a help.

Going to Dr.Graff over 20 years. He listens to my health concerns. He is conservative with his treatment and my medicines. I respect and like that.

Prescribed phentermine when I had high blood pressure MANY years ago. That was NOT safe. Never went back after that.

Dr. Graff has been my PCP for about 10 years. Sometime I see him and other times one of his partners does the exam. Office staff is very nice, office clean. Usually there is a wait even with appointment but usually the overall visits have been efficient and not rushed.

This refers to years of poor treatment in this office. I stayed for a few reasons: 1) geographic location (since I had no car during most of those years) 2) insurance affiliation 3) familiarity with a good nurse in the office 4) the addition of better Dr. partners who unfortunately all left that practice frequently 5) hope that my treatment would improve as I became a long time patient. Not one visit with Dr. Graff exceeded 5 minutes; the Dr. would even walk out as was sitting there asking a question, enter another exam room, closing the door in my face as I followed him down the hall. Dr. would barely give a cursory exam: 1) Annual physical lasted 5 minutes and did not even include looking at my body; only my ears & nose. 2) My concern for a skin condition yielded a one second glimpse, the response "You don't have crabs", then he walked to the door to exit. I replied quickly before he made his escape "Well how do I treat the itching?". He rolled his eyes, then… wrote a 'script which turned out to be a treatment for crabs (which he apparently wrote simply to get rid of me). So I used it as prescribed, but of course there was no improvement. When I returned for a follow-up exam, I told him this and he became frantic, waving his arms and saying "No, No don't continue using that!", but still did nothing to treat the condition. The prescribing of meds. for a condition the Pt. does not have is a most unprofessional act. 3) He claims to treat Obesity. The only "treatment" I got was a phone call from a girl in his office (of unknown title or ability) telling me that I needed to lose weight (which I already knew). When asked how (since I've tried in earnest for years), she said "Eat less & Exercise more". So I asked the Dr. for guidance at my next visit & he told me to walk 30 mins. daily. I explained that I already walked 3 hours daily (since I had no car & buses stopped running before I left my night job), he responded exasperatedly: "Go look in the phone book for a weight loss company". That was the extent of his "help". 4) When he added other Drs. to his practice (who all left relatively soon), he refused to see me, even when he was the only one scheduled that day. 5) The last time I went to his office, he was the only Dr. duty since the others had left. I had made an appt. for my lunch hour an arrived on time. There were 11 other pts. in the waiting room before me and no place to sit. Then, I was told by the receptionist that they could not accept my insurance since it listed the Dr. who quit as my Primary Care provider. They had never contacted me in advance or even told me on the phone when I had made the appt. 6) His attitude has been demeaning, ridiculing and totally lacking in concern for me as his Pt.

I've been with Dr Graff for 20+ years. That in itself says something! Generally a responsive, courteous and attentive staff. Each appointment ends with a private consultation with Dr. Graff in his office.
