Dr. Alan David Kogan, MD

It has been many years now since I have stopped seeing Dr. Alan Kogan. I was his patient from 1998 to 2004. The reason that I stopped seeing Dr. Kogan is because he made a racial comment towards me. In 2004, after 6 years of being his patient, he asked me some questions that were offensive. I am originally from the Caribbean but of African descent. I am not sure what was happening in his mind this particular day but he decided that after 6 years he would ask me certain questions about my race. Now I know that based on your race, you might be more prone to inherit certain heart conditions, but why ask a patient questions about race 6 years after you have been seeing them? It didn't make sense at all. To make my review a little shorter, I will just indicate the problem that occurred with Dr. Kogan. He asked me which country in Africa my ancestors came from. When I told him I don't know, he proceeded to ask me sarcastically "So you don't know which boat they came off of?" I felt that this… was very disrespectful to say the least. I called his office about a week later to file a complaint and the person that I spoke with did not take it seriously. I am writing this review so that other potential patients or current patients of Dr. Kogan might know what type of person he is. I believe in forgiveness and I do forgive him but at the same time, it would be very negligent of me to not do all I can to make others aware of the risk they are putting themselves in if they choose to see Dr. Kogan.

Dr. Kogan provides both great treatment and advice. Stayed with him for years because of this!

Visited Dr. Kogan for a check-up. Dr. Kogan Spent right amount of time at my appointment. Left with all my questions answered and clear instructions on follow-up. Nurse and front office staff were also very professional.
