Dr. Alan Monroe, MD

Alan Monroe, MD, is a board-certified radiation oncologist and has been voted as Colorado Springs Style's Top Docs. Dr. Monroe is passionate about competence and efficiency. He wants every patient to leave their consultation understanding their cancer diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment options. Dr. Monroe strives to always speak to patients in terms that they can understand and to treat them as he would hope to be treated. Dr. Monroe completed his radiation oncology residency at the University of Florida- Shands Hospital, where he served as Chief Resident. He has been treating patients at Penrose Cancer Center since 2006 and is an active member in the Colorado Medical Society. He specializes in the treatment of head and neck malignancies and lung cancer but he treats cancers throughout the body. Dr. Monroe has served as an investigator for numerous research trials, spoken at national conferences, and serves as a recognized quality reviewer for Practical Radiation Oncology, American …Journal of Clinical Oncology. Dr. Monroe has authored over fifteen peer reviewed publications in the past ten years showing a commitment to ongoing research. In his free time, Dr. Monroe enjoys spending time with his three children, hiking, biking, reading, and travelling.
