Dr. Alan Joseph Parks, MD

Dr. Parks was very pleasant & knowledgeable re my skin condition - appreciated his professionalism, attention to detail & expertise.

Horrible customer service! It's like jumping through hoops and ladders to get anything accomplished through this office. I left several (3 messages within a week and a half) for a refill to be called in. No returned calls, no medication called in. I called again for the 4th time to be informed by Catherine (sp?) that there's a note on my account saying I need to come in for a follow-up visit. Why didn't someone call to tell me this? Why do I have to call numerous times in an attempt to get something done? She told me they didn't have any calls from me. Oh really? So you just randomly added a note to my account last Friday? I told her it was "bullsh!t" that someone hasn't returned any of my calls. I guess because I used the word "bullsh!t" she thought it was okay to hand up on me. I called back and asked why she hung up on me, she said she refused to be "cussed out".... clearly I didn't cuss anyone out, I just said that it was bullsh!t that they supposedly never received any of my… messages. It's apparent that their "patients" are only a number to them. I have never even met with Dr. Parks, who I was referred to. I have scheduled an appointment in the past and specifically asked to see the doctor, rather than the Physician Assistant (who actually is very friendly). I show up to my appointment to find out that my appointment was made with the PA rather than the doctor. The voicemail greeting to get through to someone is very long and comes across very rude. The message comes across as though they don't want people calling. The response time is awful. The smell in the office is extremely overpowering with wax melts and air fresheners. There is no privacy in the rooms as the entire wall in each room is nothing but a glass window; they do not shut the blinds when you're being seen. I will filing a complaint with the State Medical Board.

I saw Dr. Parks for about 8-10 appointments over 2.5 years and never felt comfortable with him (or the overall practice, but that's a whole other review). He may be knowledgeable, but he always seems to be in a hurry to be done and get to the next patient. I never feel like my questions are answered satisfactorily, often to the point where I'm made to feel like I'm a pest. I've also been given 3 prescription creams for various skin issues and none of them has ever worked. When I tell him this, he acts like it should be working...as if somehow I'm at fault. I've finally had enough and will seek a new dermatology practice.

I’ve been treated by Dr. Parks twice. Both times, he was thorough and kind, and even got me laughing during the process! He then went the extra mile for me and treated an additional problem during my visit. The entire office staff was friendly and helpful. I truly had a great experience both times.

Dr. Parks does his examinations very fast. My perception was he need to get to the next patient ASP.

Parks was incomplete in post-operative instructions requiring an additional visit to receive information that should have been given initially.

I would say overall it was not bad....It seems he could have a better bedside manner and not seem so rushed to get the appointment over with. Overall, he did check what I asked but seemed kind of un-approachable about anything else

Looking for a great dermatologist, then Dr. Parks is the doctor of choice.
