Arrogant disrespectful physician. The office staff behaves like their doc.

This man had the audacity to say it would be “extreme child neglect” if I didn’t get my son glasses all because I said I needed to talk to my husband first. Obviously we would do whatever our child needed but honestly I wanted to consult another pediatric optometrist first because I had a bad feeling about him from the minute I walked in there. Horrible experience!

This man needs to retire. He has an ugly attitude, no patience, and has been in practice since the stone age. It's time for the fossil to go.

I took my son to him since turned a year or so old because I saw Dr. Richards when I was a teenager. My son is 4 years old now. Every single appointment (every 6 months), Dr. Richards wants to do muscle surgery again after he's already did it once to my son to fix a slight crossness. I tell him no I don't want my son being put to sleep every 6 months for muscle surgery repeatedly. He says well it's your choice if you want to allow your son to go blind. After the last appointment (a week ago), I am taking my son to see another eye doctor for a second opinion and will be changing doctors if that doctor says a different thing. Last appointment we had a 4 hour long waiting before we was finally out of there. We only interacted with the doctor about an hour (probably less) off and on the whole time there.

I read the reviews and I was frankly scare of Dr. Richards. Im agoraphobic and research every doctor I got o so I know whom I am talking to. These reviews seem to be one sided. I toll my 8 yr old there and the office staff was very friendly. The doctor was the normal playful kids doctor. He was straight and down to business. he answered all my questions and made sure I left informed of my son's eye condition. He is a very good doctor.

Worth all of of the time and money to just drive down to New Orleans to see the other pediatric specialist in the state! Dr. Richards and his staff are terrible people who care only about money than any type of patient care. They herd patients on Medicaid in like cattle but when we accidentally showed up on the wrong date saw how differently other people on private insurance were treated, completely opposite! The waiting room was over crowed and uncomfortable on Medicaid days. Office manager is a witch! Do yourself a favor and just drive to New Orleans or out of state to avoid these people. I wish I could give negative stars. The Dr never really told me what was wrong with my son and kept saying how he wouldn't do anything until he was 4 (2 at the time) but still wanted wanted to see him regularly, my guess was to draw as much money as he could. Good luck if you still decide to go because you have been warned.

Horrible bedside manner. Don't go! Very rude and condescending. Had my daughter (9) in tears.

This indeed is a doctor who knows what he is doing. My child felt very comfortable with him and his staff. Very kid friendly!!

My son has been diagnosed with Amblyiopia for 7 yrs. He went from 20/2400 (legally blind) to 20/30 with ANOTHER DOCTOR. Then we moved here and DR. Richards said the opposite from everything the other Dr. said. We've seen him 3 times, he comes in and tries to do things that didn't work before, changes the contact prescription and blames other things for it. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL DOCTOR. WANTS YOU TO AGREE WITH EVERYTHING HE SAYS OR HE GETS UPSET AND STARTS BERATING YOU. WE WON"T BE BACK. MY 11YR. OLD HAS ASKED FOR ANOTHER DR. PLease keep looking, there are great dr's out there.

I was looking for a good pediatric eye doctor for my child and Dr. Richards was recommend to me. I was glad I took my child to see him because he was great with her. Dr. Richards and the staff was very child friendly. I would recommend him to anyone looking for a great eye doctor for there child.
