Dr. Alan Richard Schwartz, MD

I was very disappointed with this Physician and do not recommend his services. I am very serious. The short version of what occurred is that he mis-ordered tests in such a way that what could have been accomplished in a single sleep study was done in two sleep studies separated by months of delays and extra near pointless visits with him. Sincerely, he delayed my bariatric surgery by nearly 6 months and cost me upwards of $1000 extra out of pocket. My insurance paid thousands and thousands extra...for no reason. Keep in mind that I told Dr. Schwartz the consequences of what he was doing and he became argumentative and did not care...even when the outcome of the first test indicated that a second test was not mandatory. He just didn't care. As predicted, the second sleep study proved nothing except that I never needed a CPAP machine (the first sleep study indicated that same outcome). This was the most unprofessional Doctor that I have EVER encountered and not just on a single… occasion. I got the sense that he wanted a billing machine and I was that machine. He just didn't care. When I finally completed the requirements for my surgery, he literally admitted to me that he contributed to the delay. Stay away from this Doctor. I am not leaving my name because I get other care from Hopkins and love my other doctors. I don't want to alienate them from me. I hope you understand but I want to warn you about this Doctor!
