Dr. Alan Mark Seltzer

Thank you, Dr. Selzter, for the excellent care you gave me for the 10 plus years that I was your patient. I am doing well and it is because of you. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

I could not have made it through the worst time in my life that started with panic attacks, which meant I needed to be treated for my anxiety disorder and ADHD (diagnosed at 19 and I am 35). Which can be tricky. I took FMLA leave from work and he was very supportive in filing the necessary paperwork and he performed both the psychiatrist role and the psychotherapist role because HE CARES. He is the only psychiatrist that I have experienced like this and wasn't a weight, blood pressure, how is the medicine working okay next patient please. He actually listened and helped be through my ex-husband and father of 3 children dying along with 2 other good family friends within 1 week of each other while I was already on leave for anxiety. He gave great advice encouraging self introspect, and helped me get my condition under control. Dr. Seltzer is a great man, is very educated with my disorders and I don't know where I would be right now (not at work) if it wasn't for him

The first consultation was okay and went well although the location and office (his house) needs some attention. The office staff is friendly. the doctor and office The doctor and his staff failed to return several messages left on voice mail by my son (the patient) and myself in order to follow up on prescription refill. I would not recommend this doctor to anyone due to his lack of response to follow up calls. He is unreliable.

I been goin to dr Seltzer for almost a year now an I believe that he is a very good doctor he is very smart an intelligent. He is alittle strange but but who isn't in there own way. he listens to everything you say an will ask you the same thing in a different way for certain questions just to make sure you're not lying. I read some of the reviews for mine not he hey good dr. just stern an care about his patients alot more than other drs. He writes down everything an will ask you next week the same thing in a different way to see if he gets the same response which is a good thing in my eyes. You just have to be honest with him if not he will drop u quick. and that's the way I feel and experience things with being my psychiatrist for a year .

I arrived on time the day of my first visit with Dr. Seltzer and was getting out of my car when his receptionist called me to cancel. I was annoyed by his unprofessionalism, but agreed to come back the following week. I once again arrived on time, this time to find the doctor sitting outside in his car, blaring music and dancing. I hesitantly tapped on the car window. Dr. Selzer told me, in an annoyed voice, that I was early (I wasn't) and that I should have just gone in to wait for him. The sessions themselves were no better. Other than the first day, I never saw him take a single note, even though he couldn't remember anything I said. He would ask me the same questions over and over, sometimes within a single session. He asked me what my job is at least 7 times throughout the two months I saw him. I was already pretty sure I was going to stop seeing Dr. Seltzer when I went to what would be our penultimate session. He asked me about my family and I told him my brother is… severely intellectually disabled. Dr Seltzer said, "So he's a mongoloid?" He mistook my shocked silence for a lack of comprehension, adding, "Does he have wide spaced eyes and ears set low on the head?" I coolly replied, "If you mean does he have Down's Syndrome, no." Despite ostensibly being an educated man and a doctor, Seltzer seemed confused by this. He asked me if that meant my brother looked "normal" and was perplexed when I said no. He seemed unable to comprehend how someone with a severe intellectual disability could both look "abnormal" and still not have Down's Syndrome. I went for one last session, mainly to tell Dr. Seltzer how inappropriate I found his comments. When I brought up my disabled brother, he said, "Oh yes, that's right, the one who still looks normal." What is with him and defining people by how normal they look? Anyway, that was my last visit. To summarize, Dr. Seltzer would constantly cancel or be late for appointments. I would show up on time and then inevitably sit in the waiting room for 15 minutes, despite being the first patient. He couldn't remember anything I said, and he insulted my family. I would advise anyone looking for a psychiatrist to seek help elsewhere.

I saw this doctor weekly for one year. He frequently forgot appointments and sometime was not there when I arrived for an appointment. He could not remember from week to week what I had said and would ask me the same questions over and over again. He was constantly changing my medicine 2-3 times monthly. and he would actually fall asleep during a session. He also asnwers the phone during sessions and carries on a conversation with his friends and family members.
