I think Dr. Urkowitz is a very solid GP. I believe he is genuinely concerned for his patients. His staff however is a completely different animal. Mostly it is just a few bad apples but they ruin the entire office. Arrogant, testy individuals. I will be leaving this practice after almost 30 years because of this.

My wife and I have been patients of Doctor Urkowitz for over 20 years. That fact alone should tell you how much confidence we have in his ability to diagnose illnesses and prescribe the best treatment. I thanked him, the last time I saw him, for taking such good care of us. He said that was his job. But it's more than a job to him. He is generally concerned about our health issues and it shows because of the time he spends discussing treatments and alternatives. I can't say enough about him and I would recommend him to any one I know.

Whoever rated Dr. Urkowitz last time I think is dead wrong. Both me and my wife have been seeing him for 8 yrs and have nothing but great things to say. For me he has always been right with his diagnosis. For example in Dec 2009 I saw him for a mild resp. infection. After the exam he did not like what he heard in 1 lobe and sent me for an x-ray. X-ray to CAT Scan to PET Scan. Caught early stage 1A cancer. Surgery and now clean 3 yrs no radiation. I know my last Dr. would have given me antibiotics and sent me on my way. He keeps current. Example few years ago got a deer tick bite with bullseye rash. Lymes Diease, I am a RN and work with alot of Docs all of them (5) said Doxycycline 10 days. Dr. Urkowitz said protocol now states 14 days. Look it up, he was very current. He is a great GP, I am taking my mom to see as her primary.
