Dr Wan was great

I am completely blown away and deeply disappointed by how this situation was handled. This physician Dr Wan is an oncologist/hematologist — someone who treats very ill and complex patients who are quite literally trusting him with their lives. To build that level of trust, only to have the doctor abruptly quit without any warning to patients, is shocking and devastating. There was no communication, no preparation, no transition, and no sense of closure. Patients were left to find out after the fact that the doctor they trusted most was simply gone. Even the staff appeared blindsided, which makes this even more concerning. In oncology, continuity of care and trust are not optional. They are essential. This felt less like a normal provider change and more like being abandoned during one of the most vulnerable times in a patient’s life. Out of all the physicians I see, this was the one I trusted the most — only to be left high and dry. Regardless of the reasons behind the departure,… the lack of communication and patient consideration is absolutely unacceptable. Patients in cancer care and hematology deserve far better than this. Any future patients I would caution trusting this provider with your care.

Excellent physician! Kind,caring, and patient. He is very busy! He sees multiple family and friends/neighbors. We have a lot of trust in him! He treats me for rectal cancer and we have great confidence in him. He provides a lot of hope and clearly communicates the plan!

We are so happy to have found Dr Wan after we decided to get a second opinion after a bad experience with another doctor in the area. Dr Wan was professional, kind, patient, and his staff are so helpful. Dr Wan listens and provides advice. His words are usually very positive and give hope. He is also very honest with his patients. Thanks to him, my mother is in remission!

My husband and I were very satisfied with patient experience with Dr Wan. He is very caring and after having multiple opinions regarding breast cancer. His recommendation was most consistent with university recommendations. He is kind, knowledgeable, and very helpful in explaining all nuances of care. He answers all questions and even provides multiple ways to contact him should we have more questions after our visit.

Really get the sense that Dr Wan and his staff are there to help. My family and I are sad to see him leave the DeKalb area. He treats multiple family members. My sister will be following him to Huntley and continue her care through Northwestern Medicine. If you ever need a cancer doctor, consider Dr Wan, he’s always looking to fight this terrible disease with you and your family. He’s also very committed.

Dr Wan spends time explaining everything. You truly get the sense that he cares about how you are doing and how you are. He’s busy and has a ton of patients. However, whenever we see him the patients in waiting room all have wonderful things to say about him.
