Dr. Albert Chan, MD

I am currently an assistant professor in the division of pediatric gastroenterology at the University of Florida. I completed my bachelor's degree at the University of California and earned my medical degree from St. George's University. I completed my pediatric residency at the Children's Hospital at Erlanger in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and my pediatric gastroenterology fellowship at Golisano Children's Hospital in Rochester, New York, before joining the team at UF Health in July 2018.When I first decided to pursue medicine, I thought I would go into geriatric care, with my grandmother being my primary inspiration. However, I soon discovered I was extremely passionate about pediatrics, particularly pediatric gastroenterology, following a rotation during medical school. The pediatric gastroenterology patient population captured my interest and seeing the mastery of endoscopy solidified my decision. Since then, I have dedicated myself to being the best pediatric gastroenterologist I can …be by practicing safe, effective and innovative medical care.I am board-certified in both general pediatrics and pediatric gastroenterology by the American Board of Pediatrics. I am an active contributing member of the North American Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition, where I participate in a special interest group for Eosinophilic Gastrointestinal Disease (EGID). I serve as the medical director of the Eosinophilic Esophagitis clinic. My research interests include eosinophilic esophagitis, inflammatory bowel disease and abdominal pain.Outside of work, my hobbies include spending quality time with my family, watching collegiate and professional sports (basketball and football), photography and playing piano.
