Albert A. Citron, DMD -Â Northern Virginia Endodontist
He is currently a Northern Virginia Endodontist but a product of the public school system of Paterson, New Jersey, where he was raised. In considering family household finances, he attended Rutgers the State University, commuted from home and received a B.A. in Biology in 1964.With a good deal of family financial sacrifice, he attended and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine , receiving a Doctor of Medical Dentistry (DMD) degree in 1968. This was a dental school that, to this day, values critical, global thinking as well as excellence clinically.
The sixties was a time of the military draft. After eight years of deferment from military service, he knew he needed to fulfill his military obligation. In 1968, Dr. Citron enlisted in the United States Army and was commissioned as a Captain.  He spent the first year in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, the home of the respected 82nd …Airborne and the Green Berets. The second year he did a tour of duty in Tay Ninh and Cu Chi, Vietnam, as a practicing dentist while attached to the 25th Infantry Division.  His dental corps had the slogan, "PRESERVE THE BITING STRENGTH".Â
Upon completion of his military obligation in 1970, Dr. Citron returned to the States, married his wife Dale, a dental hygienist pursuing a Masters degree in Dental Hygiene Education, and spent one year practicing general dentistry in New Jersey while his wife was Supervisor at Middlesex County College Department of Dental Hygiene.Â
In 1970, Dr. Citron entered the New Jersey School of Medicine and Dentistry, and received a Certificate of Specialty in Endodontics in 1972.   Dr. Citron has maintained a private endodontic practice in Vienna, Virginia since 1973, always putting ethics at the forefront of his treatment philosophy and mission. As a dedicated and professional Northern Virginia Endodontist, he continues to perform endodontic services, Pro Bono for three social service agencies in the area. In 2003, he received a special award for outstanding volunteer service to the Northern Virginia Dental Clinic that services the disadvantaged community in our midst.  Dr. Citron still volunteers actively in this program. He has been honored by the Northern Virginia Magazine, The Consumers' Research Counsel of America and The Washingtonian Magazine as a "Top Endodontist" in the years 2004 - 2009.  He is an active member of the American Association of Endodontists, American Dental Association, Virginia Dental Association and Northern Virginia Dental Society.  He is a member and past president of the Virginia Academy of Endodontists and the Edward C. Penick Endodontic Study Club.  He is also an active member of the Alpha Omega International Dental Fraternity and the Northern Virginia Academy of Clinical Dentistry.
Dr. Citron lives as well as works in Vienna.  He has three children. Renee is married, living in Los Angeles and is a Patient Service Consultant for Medtronic and is the mother of his only grandchild, Jonah.  Jordan is married, living in Columbus, Ohio, and is attending Ohio Dominican University, pursuing a licensure in Art Education K-12. Wesley is a student at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. In addition to time spent with family, he enjoys biking, skiing, gardening, walking and anything that connects him to the outdoors and nature.
