Dr. Albert Smith JR., DO

Good luck having anyone call you back. We've called for days. They just don't care. Just wanted to get in and you're only able to leave messages to a machine that no one cares about

I took my 73 year old mother, for a follow-up appointment with her primary doctor, Dr. Albert Smith, after her recent stay in the hospital with sepsis. Our appointment was at 10:30 AM and he finally entered the room at 11:45. My sister is the one that usually attends the appointment with my mom and he then asked "are you nicer than your sister?" From there his unprofessionalism continued. We had a nurse come to our home the previous day to check on my mom and he recommended some specific questions we should ask the Dr. due to my mother's ongoing health issues. As I asked Dr. Smith questions his response the majority of the time was "they should have done that in the hospital" or "they can do that in the hospital." I explained that the hospital released her but she has a long road to recovery and we are looking for his help. I asked him if we would consult with her other doctors as she has poly myalgia, anemia, kidney problems and low red blood cell count among other things and… was emphatically told "NO"! I kept trying to ask questions and voiced my frustration with his unwillingness to help or even listen. I said you are the professional and her doctor and I do not think you are being helpful. I asked for a referral to University of Michigan and he told me to just drive there (to the ER) and if she was bad enough they would admit her. He wouldn't run any test or bloodwork because it was the weekend. When he was fed up with my questions and then rudely asked if me if "I even had a job or what do I do all day?"! This treatment to me as well as my mother was unbelievable and inhumane, my mother was sobbing by the time we left, and we had to ask the nurse for a wheelchair escort. His parting words were "good luck" and he then slammed the door.

Always takes time to listen. Explains diagnosis and medication.

Dr. Smith is an excellent physician, he is thorough, compassionate, kind, an dknowledgeable. I would recommend him.

Diagnosed with diabetes was referred to his PA Jennelle (Who is supposedly the diabetic expert) put me on insulin with know instructions, guessed at how much insulin to give myself, NEVER explained about scale, could not get my sugar under control, and was left to my own devices and internet. Needless to say due to "falling in between the cracks" and 20 years of Dr. Smith being my doctor (who I must say is wonderful), a very rude staff (except Lisa, his MA) I have changed my PCP and very pleased with the care I'm getting.

I had been a patient of Dr. Smith's for many years. I didn't go in very often, but would go in once a yr to see about getting cortisone shot in my knee ? I have a 30% disability from the Navy because of my knee injury. Never really had any problems with him until I was in a serious accident, and when he found there was a lawsuit ( just to make sure my bills were paid, I didn't go after the guy personally) he stopped listening to anything I had to say and said it was just because I wanted the money. Needless to say we don't see him anymore, but because of his bias opinion being noted in my chart, I was in severe pain for 6 years, until finally I collapsed and was taken to the ER and diagnosed paralyzed from the waist down. Thank God I had a great surgeon that was able to do surgery, and at least improve my pain level as well as my quality of life. I will never get the feeling back in my legs, and will have to have more procedures and surgeries all because he thought he knew best and… he judge me from past experiences he had had with others, not me.

I HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH THE STAFF AT ALL. DR SMITH HAS ONLY TIME TO ATTEND TO ONLY WHAT THE APPOINTMENT IS FOR. IF YOU NEED TO DISCUSS A PREVIOUS ISSUE THAT IS UNRELATED TO YOUR APPOINTMENT HE WANTS YOU TO MAKE A FUTURE APPOINT FOR THAT QUESTION. I HAVE BEEN SEEING HIM FOR 4 YEARS. I'M DONE VERY UNHAPPY

The Best Doctor I have seen, I would recommend him to everyone. He was EXCELLENT and most professional Dr. I ever had been to.

Never had any issues with the doc or the nurses. Always been squeezed in to their busy schedules when needed. Wouldn't think of going anywhere else. The pharmacy in the building is a great thing to have also.

Nurses are rude!! Wait time terrible.Nurses don't think of you as the customer.Dr Smith is nice, But he needs new Nurses.
