Dr. Albert J. Steren, MD, FACOG, has over 30 years of experience in Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Gynecologic Oncology and will be joining Mayland Oncology Hematology at the Aquilino Cancer center in August. He comes from Women’s Health Specialists of Montgomery County, where he has practiced for the last 20 years. A leader in the field of minimally invasive gynecologic surgery and medical director of an AAGL-certified fellowship in minimally invasive surgery. Dr. Steren is also an associate clinical professor at Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences and an assistant clinical professor at George Washington University School of Medicine. Dr. Steren has received numerous awards, including being named to Newsweek’s list of top oncologists and multiple Top Doctors distinctions from Washingtonian magazine, Bethesda magazine, and U.S. News & World Report. Dr. Steren performed the first robotic surgery in Montgomery County in 2008.

Dr. Steren was recommended by my friend and her sister who both had myomectomies performed by Dr. Steren, and I am really glad that I had a surgery with Dr. Steren. He is really kind, knowledgeable and has great bedside manner. He is a great surgeon! I had Da Vinci assisted laparoscopic myomectomy for 9 cm fibroid. My surgery went really well, and my recovery was quick and painless. Thank you Dr. Steren and your team!!!

Dr. Steven is most involved with his patients. His quiet, soft spoken approach Is a plus when sharing news, whether good or bad, with patients... An Excellent Doctor!

Dr. Sterne is the best, he is caring and has and shows great concerns for his patient. I appreciate him taking time to explain to his patience what is going on, more so if there is a procedure or surgery taken place. I love my Doctor. THE BEST. :-)))

Dr Steren was my surgeon and did a great job. It was nearly painless and recovery was good.

I had 4 fibroid and an endometriosis cyst to be removed. I visited two other doctors before seeing Dr. Steren and both of them said it would be a C-section like cut to remove the big fibroid which is about 8cm large. I deferred the surgery for a year because of scare of the cut, until my fertility doctor referred Dr. Steren to me. He did a great job on the surgery, ending up with a minimal invasion surgery with Da Venci technology assisted. I am recovering very well now. I really appreciate Dr. Steren's service.

I went to see Dr. Steren to remove my uterus because of a precancerous condition. My Dr. said she couldn't do it because I had had previous surgery and she was afraid she was going to injure my intestines because of scar tissue. She referred to me to Dr. Steren because "he was the best" and would be able to perform my surgery safely. She was absolutely right! He has a very calm and comforting demeanor. He explained everything to me carefully and completely. And thank God my surgery went smoothly and I was cured of my disease. He was great the whole time!

Dr. Steren is the most caring, compassionate doctor that you could want. I felt like he had all the time in the world to answer my questions and to assure me of a positive outcome. He also recommended an excellent doctor for my brachytherapy.
