Dr. Albert Chainey Umphrey, MD

Dr. Umphrey was amazing! He was knowledgeable and explained things to well to my 14year old daughter who is recovering from a sports related lower back injury. He was positive and had a solid plan for her recovery. We love that he has experience first hand and in his practice with what it takes to recover and return back to sports.

I went to Dr Umphrey after suffering for years with pain. My widespread pain was dismissed by many doctors before him, who looked at each body part separately and told me it was due to tendonitis or strain. I went to Dr Umphrey for primarily back pain, but he took a comprehensive look and diagnosed me with a condition that explained all the pain I had in my body. I have never felt so relieved and so understood by a doctor before. He treated me with compassion and understanding and was thorough in explaining his treatment plans. I was pretty much resigned to my fate of chronic and progressively worsening pain and lost hope that my health could be any better. Because of him, I felt a glimmer of hope kindle in me for a future with less pain and more happiness. I owe this all to Dr Umphrey.

I went to multiple visits to other doctors for a groin muscle tear before Dr Umphries and none of those doctors found the issue. I suffered with the issue for 10 months. Dr Umphries figured it out on the first visit, treated me within a couple weeks and now after rehab everything is really good. I would highly recommend this doctor.

Dr. Umphrey misdiagnosed my torn meniscus twice. He gave me a cortisone shot in my knee in the wrong place. I emailed him to discuss why the cortisone shot gave me no pain relief, and it took him 4 days to return my email. I ended up requesting a different doctor in his same office and had a great experience getting my knee fixed. I would not recommend Dr. Umphrey to a friend.
