Dr. Alberta Barbara Laktonen, MD

My spouse , 76 1/2 yrs old and has had many surgeries and has chronic pain; has been taking Percoset for 11 years and is the only drug that helps. She refused to write his prescription; ordered a Drug urine drug test which the patient and spouse were told, Positive for marajuana and valium; Pt does not use either. She recommended a drug for spasm and withdrawal from percoset. (1 wk supply)- Pt saw dr. the following day and was told that Marajuana was incorrect; no solution as why the valium... Pt has been off Percoset more than 24 hrs.. Was told to use tylenol...Dr also changed his blood thinner dosage. Apparently dr never heard the statement"if not broken, don't fix it."

A doctor for the dark ages. I just love family medicine doctors who attempts to play surgeon. She knows nothing about surgery needs.

There is almost nothing good memorable about alberta's meetings. She was insulting and immediately went to prescribing pills that I know are not first defense. Older patients seem to get put into the category of all options that take a little work...off the table. Give'em pills. I found her demeaning and very unpleasant to spend the few minutes she alloted.

I was seen by Dr. Laktonen 5 times during a 7 month period, not because I was terribly ill, but because she insisted on giving me 30 day refills on my blood pressure medication. I have been on this medication for ten years and as soon as I transferred care to this so called doctor I met nothing but trouble and overzealous limitations. She places herself on a podium of bad bedside manner and ill will for her patients. As I sat for 45 minutes in an exam room waiting for her 3 minute evaluation and 10 minute self involved speech, a staff member checked in, at this time I inquired about their thoughts regarding her care. Their answer, I would not recommend this doctor to any of my loved ones. SELF EXPLANATORY - even her staff think she is a controlling manipulative excuse of a health care provider.

This doctor has a poor attitude and does not have the ability to listen to the patient or caregiver and make an accurate diagnosis in the best interest of the patient. Unfortunately her egotistical attitude prevents her from understanding geriatric needs and overcoming her shortfalls. example: The patient might be bleeding to death and if Dr. Laktonen decided they needed a sleeping pill, no matter what the patient says, they get a sleeping pill instead of treating the bleeding... Pathetic

A doctor on a power trip. No thanks.

I was in Dr. Laktonen's care for several months. Although she appreared to be listening, she was unable to diagnose my problem and treat me appropriately. In fact, for lack of knowing how to proceed, she kept giving me low-level-intelligence anxiety tests, instead of pursuing symptoms until she arrived at a diagnosis. She refused to order blood tests I asked for, and told me to go to the Med Consumer Lab, where folks pay for blood work themselves, although I have good insurance thru the State of AK. When I was in obvious distress, she was unsympathetic and at a loss at what to do next. I would not recommend her to anyone.

Dr. Laktonen always comes prepared with a smile, listens effectively and works with the patient to find the best solution for them.
