Dr. Alberto Castiel

I moved to Florida over a year ago when my son-in-law was transferred to Jacksonville by the Navy. I have been going to North Florida Medical since I’ve been here and always saw the PA. (She was WONDERFUL) On my latest visit I was informed she’d left the practice suddenly and I needed to see Dr. Castiel. I am 66 years old and I had never been verbally attacked by a doctor until I saw him. He is the most hateful, arrogant person I have ever had the misfortune to come into contact with, doctor or otherwise. He ridicules, shames, and berates without giving a person time to understand why this is happening. He practically screamed at me because I said I had been monitoring my blood sugar and he insisted you can’t buy glucometers or test strips without a prescription. I guess he hasn’t been to Walgreens’s lately. Lol. Normally I’m very good at words but this caught me off guard and was so unexpected it left me nearly speechless. To this day I don’t know what set him off but after reading… other reviews I understand this is not new behavior. I will definitely not be going back to that practice. He is a terrible, conceited jerk and if you go there remember you’ve been warned. There are a lot of caring doctors out there that are not in love with themselves. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. During my year going there I saw three different PAs that no longer work for him. And I can’t keep up with the changes in office personnel. I’m pretty sure he must be a miserable guy to work for.

Belittled and berated me the entire time I was in his office because I had not been in to see them in a year and a half. Accused me of not caring about my health, etc. I have never been treated so poorly by a physician. As I was checking out, I asked if my prescriptions could be called or faxed to the pharmacy and he went off on me again, saying how dare I expect them to drop everything to do this for me. I have gone to this practice for 20 years, and usually see the PA's because Castiel is never there. He has just seen me for the last time. Horrible experience!

Dr Castiel is an excellent physician.

Dr Castiel has been trained in just about everything. you know that you are in good hands.

Dr. Castiel is someone I recommend to many people. I am in the health industry and am impressed each time I see him. he is very informative and he seriously cares about your health/ He looks for solutions that actually lead you to healthy decisions. I will continue to use him as my health care professional along with my entire family.

I have been seeing Dr. Castiel since 2001and I have no problems with him nor any member of his staff and would recommend him to any person without any hesitation. When i am ill and I call his office they schedule me immediately. Excellent professional service.

At the beginning, when I started going (about 2 year ago), the doctor was very friendly. Always in a teaching mode explaining why we had the symptoms and how to correct them. The staff has always been very disorganize. Records are always out order. Once I showed the doctor because he was trying to tell me things were wrong when I know my lab results were better, he realize he was looking at an incorrect lab results. In the past year thing have change a lot. Many time I have been put on hold for longer than 45 minutes and when I complained to the office manager she was disrespectful and didn't care. The prescription are handle by a PA who is very rude, and at time I had to tell him that he was rude and disrespectful. The last two things that cause me to leave was after I had specifically asked to pick up a prescription, the staff fax the prescription to a company I use for different prescriptions. The next day I received a call to cancel a schedule appointment 30 minutes… before the appointment. The staff said she just got notified the doctor was not in. One day later I tried to complain to the office manager, and her response in a very non-caring way was that she saw the confusion about my prescription ok because it could be normal for the staff to get confused with the way I had my prescription going to two different place. And in relation to the cancelled appointment they call me when they found out. For some reason it gave me the impression she didn't care and after many incidents of mishandling many issue in three year it was time to find a doctor that had people that care and people that acted professional. The doctor is very knowledgeable but the experience overall is horrible.

My husband and I have seen Dr Castiel for 13 years. He, Mark & Robert excellent to work with.

One of the best Dr.'s I've ever had. I don't understand some of the comments I've read on here. He's very personable, great sense of humor and really cares about his patients. He spends as much time with his patients as is needed and will not rush you out the door. He is also one of the smartest individuals I've ever come across. From what I know if him (Been a patient for about 14 years) I have to believe something is wrong with those of you posting that are making negative comments. Seriously. It doesn't square with my experience at all.
