Dr. Alberto Sebastian Gallo, MD

I am a 79 year old female that was having gallbladder issues. After an ultrasound confirmed this my primary Dr. referred me to Dr. Gallo. My family was familiar with Dr. Gallo because he had previously removed my son-in-laws gallbladder. My visit with Dr. Gallo put me at ease, he explained the procedure and I found him very easy to communicate with. Outpatient surgery went well and I was home in five hours. Two days I rested and went on with my life as normal.

I had multiple hernia repairs with different surgeon. Went to see Dr, Gallo that told me he will fix it and instructed me to lose some weight and get a better control of my diabetes so I will have the best outcome. Said and done...did my part and surgery went better than expected. I was in the hospital 2 days and went home with minimal pain. I cannot be more greatfull for his expertise. He was clear and to the point of what my goals were before surgery and he delivered. I wish I had the same information about surgery before.

I am a patient and had an awesome experience. The office staff was great, procedure went even better and recovery was as expected. I was concern about the visit because the prior comments I seen here but my PCP reassured me he was the best. I guess you need to have your own experience. I recommend this practice 100%.

I'd give no Stars if I could. Arrogant, condescending and smug. When I went in for a post op consultation and expressed some difficulty I had experienced, he said that was not the case and could not happen... impossible. So essentially he called me a liar. This was on two issues... level of pain afterwards and ability to have full function over one of my extremities. All worked out over several weeks but for me to look for reasons why in the post op consultation and to be told I was delusional was beyond upsetting. For pain management he said tylenol would suffice. I was fine with that until after the surgery. When I called and asked how many tylenol can I take because 3 every two hours wasn't getting it done they offered an over the counter (Alieve) to be used with Tylenol. Turns out, that was in conflict with current medication I was on... in short, he never referenced my chart before giving his solution to pain. The pharmacist was a bit alarmed and caught the error. When I called… them back to tell them what the pharmacist had said, I was told that "not every patient alerts us to what current medication they are taking". In essence telling me it was my fault and diverting blame.This is after filling out 4 sets of different paperwork throughout the process acknowledging my meds as well as telling the pre-op nurse what I was currently on minutes prior to the surgery. Stay away from this guy. There are much better and caring surgeons out there that won't insult and demean you. I wish I had made a better choice. My Dr. that made the referral to this putz will get an ear full

I'm sure Dr Gallo is a wonderful dr but the people who work in his office are lazy. I've been attempting to contact his office to schedule a colonoscopy for over a month. I've left several messages but until today I've not heard from them. They finally returned a call today only to tell me the procedure has been scheduled. I have never talked to anyone at this office about anything but they have scheduled this procedure anyway. The person I spoke with was somewhat defensive and said "we couldn't have scheduled this unless someone spoke with you about it" She told me they have tried to return my calls but my cell phone like most cell phones records missed calls and I fail to see any attempts to contact me. As I said, I'm sure Dr Gallo is a wonderful Dr but his office staff leaves a lot to be desired.

I do not underestimate the intelligence and competence of Dr. Gallo. He knows what he is doing. Perhaps he has difficulty reading the subtle body language or tone of voice of other people. Perhaps he misinterprets his patients. Or— worst case scenario— maybe he is not concerned about fear expressed by his patients during pre-op. I typically give doctors extra consideration due to the responsibility of their demanding occupation. But Dr. Gallo talked down to his assistants and staff on numerous occasions. I observed a sense of condescending apathy directed at his patients. Dr. Gallo seemed to talk down to patients and his bedside manner was abrasive. The procedure went OK from what I can tell. Modern medicine is great, it saves lives, but I justify my rating when I know there are other doctors who could have performed the same procedure without the guff.
