Dr. Alberto Acacio Mendez, MD

To start with a positive, I do believe Dr. Mendez knows what he's talking about and would trust his diagnosis. However, in my four or five years of going to this office, my consistent experience has been one of feeling very dismissed by the front desk staff and even Dr. Mendez himself at times. I have generally overlooked this. However, recently, even though I asked specific questions to the front desk staff in order to know which steps to take next, I was given wrong information, missed work and my appointment because of this and caused the phlebotomist to be late w/ her patients after me. I called Dr. Mendez's office multiple times during office hours after this and no one answered. I left 3 messages and no one called me back. I was in the middle of getting tested and was on my 3rd test as ordered by the doctor, however could not move forward w/ that testing until I had correct information. I reached out to the office staff and asked them to call me back multiple times and still have… not heard from them 2-3 months later. I asked for them to call me back or connect me directly to the doctor since I was given wrong information the first time around. It has been 2-3 months and I still have yet to hear from them. The office staff is very dismissive and very unprofessional and at this point I would say unethical. I used to manage the front desk of a doctor's office that had 7 different doctors. We opened our doors when we said we would open and we answered calls and/or returned calls and we never dismissed our patients. Given my background and experience in going to this office for the past 4-5 years, I cannot say that I would recommend this office to my friends or family. At this point, I still am not able to finish the testing the doctor prescribed because the front desk staff will not contact me nor have they let the doctor know that I have been calling and asking for help.

I unfortunately had to come to this office for surgical clearance. I take several medications for diabetes and unfortunately some of them have uncomfortable side effects. I brought this up to the Doctor and he dismissed my concerns than began to lecture me about nutrition. I know how to eat and what to eat to be healthy. His advise was neither helpful or requested. Don't come to this office if you expect to be treated as an intelligent patient seeking real answers. Also they are very prejudiced against non-Spanish speaking people. The office just wants to bill for their services and add as many as they can.

I've been Dr. Mendez patient for over 4 yrs. I have no complaints, he is very straight forward and he is concerned about your A1C. If you are interested on a Doctor that will tell your condition and what you need to accomplish, you are in good hands. His staffs are awesome, very professional and willing to assist you and accommodate you based on your needs. I recommend Osceola Endocrine consultants, Inc. any time.

I felt like in home . Dr Mendez take care of you in details , he takes time with patient in order to can know patient history. Very respectful and kindness person. I recomend him 100%.

Dr. Mendez has been nothing short of upfront, honest and caring when it comes to my care. We are working together to achieve better health. He along with his staff is a 5 Star office.

Excellent, but I don't like when the assistance see me I want to see my doctor accurate diagnostic

The first time I saw Dr. Mendez for hypothyroidism, I was impressed and hopeful. He seemed to be kind, made friendly jokes, seemed confident, and looked me in the eye and said: I am going to make you WELL. A few visits, and my thyroid was in the right range, so my PCP took over monitoring my thyroid. Then, when it went outta whack again about 5 years later, I was sent back to Dr. Mendez. What a complete change. I had lost a good deal of weight in those in-between years. So first thing he barges into the room, papers flying all over and actually YELLED AT ME FOR LOSING WEIGHT. He didn't ask how, and he was annoyed and angry when I told him I lost it gradually, over time, with exercises his assistant, maybe a PA(she moved on quickly!) printed out for me 5 years ago! He was angry that I had NOT had gastric bypass surgery. What the heck? My mother agreed, cuz she saw him too for diabetes, it's like a totally different man. He made a mean-spirited joke about some symptoms… causing hirsutism, which already added to my anxiety. Maybe he has professional burnout. Who knows? I have anxiety problems, and he made me go into a panic attack as he was ushering me out of his office, and I hadn't gotten many words in edgewise., The point is he is now gruff, angry, and most importantly: HE WROTE THE WRONG DOSE OF SYNTHROID, lowered it instead of upping it as was needed and he'd said he was going to do! My PCP fixed it, and actually said he'd heard some stories like mine, and he referred me elsewhere. Dr. Mendez also said I required new blood labs (of course), but he didn't write an order for the tests!

This doctor doesn't have any manners. He doesn't like to answers questions so if you have any concerns you won't get answers from this guy.

I get there at 9:45 and I get out 12:50!! The staff is good but the doctor should be fired! He's rude, unfriendly and a grump. I ask him a simple question and he got all mad. He throws papers around like his patients don't matter! I drove 3 hours to be treated like an animal! We had to wait like 40 minutes because he was busy talking on the phone!! Worst doctor if it were not for my health I would never go back!!

When I read the reviews I thought ok I will still give him a try, but I am here to tell you the reviews are SO TRUE!!! He has not beside manner and can not deal with people or children. My son (11) was afraid to ask questions on his condition. And he hollared at me in front of other patients and my son for asking a simple question. Then walked away and muttered under his breath. I wouldn't let my worst enemy go to this man. How he has a practice is beyond me.
