Dr. Alberto A. Pena, MD

I went in to see Dr. Pena for a fistula. He immediately made me feel comfortable and at ease, as you can imagine, this is not one of the most comfortable situations. His knowledge and expertise allowed for great care and a successful outcome. He is usually booked months in advance but his staff always makes sure to find you a spot if they see your case is emergent. We are very lucky to have Dr. Pena in the lower Rio Grande Valley.

I had to have an operation and a surgery to resolve my issue. Dr. Pena stated that it was one of the worst cases he had seen, but he fixed it. I feel like part of my life has been given back to me. I do not understand the negative review regarding wait times. Every doctor you go to will have a waiting room and a line of people waiting to see them. I think it is disrespectful for someone to post a negative review based on their own selfish nature. Dr. Pena provides quality care.

This doctor has zero respect for patients who go to see him. My appointment was at 11:00am. At 1:30, having waited for 2.5 hours without seeing him, I walked out. I talked to 2 people on his staff about how disrespectful he was. Both gave indifferent responses. They were nice; they were polite. But they reacted as though waiting 2 hours to be seen by Dr. Pena was of no consequence. He may be competent. Other reviewers say he is. But any doctor who makes patients wait over 2 hours to be seen has ZERO respect for patients. Patients have lives. Their time is valuable. Doctors should not waste patients' time, and patients should not tolerate such callous disregard of them.

I have dealt with physicians in the past from a legal standpoint, personal standpoint and seeking their professional medical treatment and advice for myself and other fammily members. From the initial consultation, office visits and through two surgeries this physician exemplifies professionalism and competence. Dr. Pena is not only competent in rendering medical treatment, he explains all aspects of the care and treatment he proposes, the potential outcomes and risks; and leaves a patient with confidence that the medical treatment he is receiving or is about to receive is the best available in Dr. Pena's areas of practice. I highly recommend Dr. Pena - 5 Stars. Allen

I would tell my friends to go see him as he is very profession. He spends enough time with me He has a very courteous staff and very profession too!

He was correct in his diagnosis,great bedside manner, great staff. Only problem, his waiting room does not have enough chairs and wait times are more than an hour. The comments that say 10-15 min wait must be the first appointments of the day. I have been there 3 hours (sign in to walk out) on several occasions. It is nothing to have to stand for over an hour waiting for enough people to clear out so you can find an empty seat.

He is a great Doctor! Took great care of me and is concerned about all of his patients. He takes the extra step to make you feel comfortable.
