Dr. Alec David Otteman, MD

The info here is a little old. I met Dr. Otteman while he was doing his nephrology fellowship at the U of MN. He is a very kind man as well as an excellent physician. He listens to what you are telling him & cares about his patient's overall well being. He is very intelligent and works very hard to come to a diagnosis and treatment plan. I can't say enough about how great he is; I have a very complex medical history and he spent a lot of time both with me & on his own figuring out the problem. When asked a question which he doesn't know or is unsure of the answer, he readily admits this (which most docs won't) and works to find the answer. Dr. Otteman is an outstanding nephrologist and also extremely educated in internal medicine. He works with the patient to find solutions that are tailored to the patient's specific needs and beliefs (desires). I have met physician's who have worked with him throughout his internship & fellowship. Every one of them hold Dr. Otteman in high regard. It… really says a lot when a doc would choose him if the need for a nephrologist arose. Dr. Otteman is an overall superb doc and a very kind & compassionate man. He is not one of those doctors who sees himself as "above" his patients or superior to them.
