My son (now 15) has has strabismus surgery once when he was 2 and once when he was 13. His eye is wondering again due to him getting bigger and growing. The doctor we had taken him too did not want to do another surgery because he was worried about over correcting. I found Dr Decanini online and it says she specializes in strabismus so we took a chance. After all this is his self esteem and kids can be so cruel. We just love her. Her confidence and bed side manner is beyond the best! She explained everything in detail to where my son could understand and her attitude was not only caring but heartfelt but her confidence is what I like the most. She gave us some options by starting out with changing the eye prescription and doing some eye exercises. She said said wanted to talk to us in a month vis telehealth, which is so great since we live 3 hours away. If by then he isnt liking what he sees and wants to proceed with surgery, she said she would do that. He was so happy to hear that he… had that option. Of course we are starting with the first options. Another thing was that he was always told he was not a good candidate for Lasix eye surgery and she told him that he most certainly was. Another plus in our books. I wish when we moved up to Minnesota when he was 3 that we would have found her sooner. We absolutely love her!!!!

She is AMAZING. Always makes my son feel comfortable and provides lots of information to him and myself. He’s been seeing her for the past 8 years and we have never had a bad experience with her. And when my son had to have eye surgery she explained the surgery in detail, followed up continuously afterwards, and listened to every concern or question I had. We couldn’t ask for a better doctor. She is kind, compassionate, understanding, and caring. It’s so noticeable that she enjoys her job!
