Dr. Alejandra Carolina Lastra, MD

Dr. Lastra does not return phone calls, sleep studies need scheduling months in advance, more than one sleep study is needed to give correct diagnosis, and it takes about a month for the doctor to review and go over results for each one. All in all, it took over one year to be prescribed medicine, which Dr. Lastra eventually “forgot” to prescribe. She then denied an alternative once her preferred medicine was denied by insurance. Approval was needed with an appeal, which she did not know how to complete and caused two more months of delays. I was finally told to sign an appeal form from Dr. Lastra stating I suffer from mania and anxiety disorder, both of which I do not have, again, later saying this was a “mistake.” Finally, her preferred medicine prescribed, Modafinil, has made my hypersomnia symptoms worse, and Dr. Lastra has failed to return my calls. This doctor’s behavior is very unprofessional and I am now more tired than when I first arrived at the Sleep Center at Rush Hospital.

Dr. Lastra's kindness and consideration is both recognized and appreciated. She is incredibly smart and seems to have a good heart. I feel a great sense of gratitude for all that she has done for me. Her efforts have literally changed my life. I Thank her again and again, for her outstanding performance and results. Both as a doctor and as a human being, she stands absolutely, amongst the very finest!
