Dr. Alejo Parellada, MD

I have suffered with uncontrollable anxiety for 3 years. I've been to many psychiatrists who through the pharmacy at me and nothing worked. In desperation I reached out to Dr. Alejo and he was able to very gently finess me onto a medication that works. When the medication stopped working as efficiently as it should, he raised the dosage but I stopped taking it because I thought I was rejecting it. I spoke to the doctor and he said to go back onto the lower dose and he will see me the next day. I went in and he gave me another medication that will help the first one work. He is an expert at managing medications and has an instinct as to what will work and what won't. We owe our lives to this amazing doctor.

Comments that were not rated were solely because Dr. Parellada conducts his appointments with patients out of his office - not in a hospital. However, Dr. Parellada has been my Psychiatric Dr. since 2007 and has been more that just a provider. He is an amazing Doctor to know and care for you.

This is a great psychiatrist to see if you dont want to wait and you want to be able to talk to someone every month for Id say 35 mins-1 hour depending on his appt.'s for the day. He only sees patients on Saturdays is one thing that may make it tough. Im an addict in recovery with 9 months of clean time and my medications are very specific and change sometimes whether it be the med itself or the dosage. Dr. Alejo is smart as any doc Ive come across as far as addicts and addictive behavior goes so dont think you are going to go see him and recieve any drugs that you don't need and are looking to abuse. He will know it and its not going to happen so dont waste his time. I have to say he really does spend an adequate amount of time with me (more then any psych Ive ever been to) anyway which I appreciate since I pay in cash. He doesn't take insurance. First visit is 100$ initiation fee and then its 50$ per visit after that each month. One time I ran into difficulty and he was able to mail… me a very important script. I travel almost an hour to see him because he is the best male addiction psychiatrist I've seen to date (and Ive seen a few in NY and two in FL also) and Im just so comfortable talking to him. He goes above an beyond with a prior authorization I require because of an allergy to fillers in one of my meds. He is also a Suboxone doctor if you are in any situation where that med is related. I highly reccomend him to any male (dont have to be an addict) who feels comfortable talking to a knowledgable male psychiatrist about their life and resolving their issues and treating their conditions. He has changed addresses a few times so he is hard to get a hold of. I found him by word of mouth. A friend told me to try him and I was happy with the the care I recieved from the first visit. I personally reccomend him to anyone male or female or family or even child only. Whatever the case is he is smart as can be in all areas of mental health. Well worth the drive for me every month.
