Dr. Alessandro Cancelliere, MD

I usually do not write reviews, but I feel it's necessary to warn prospective patients away from this doctor. He is dismissive of pain, confident in misdiagnoses, and overall self-aggrandizing and arrogant. I was admitted during off hours (Monday morning) for significant blurred vision and excruciating pain in my right eye. I had already been referred to the ER by an urgent care clinic. By the time I reached the ER, I had been in nonstop pain and unable to see for three hours. Despite all of this, I was left to wait for over an hour before I was seen, without any concern for pain management or the several boxes of tissues I'd gone through because of tearing. When Dr. Cancelliere finally deigned to see me, he all but scoffed at both my pain rating and that I didn't know the cause of my pain. Apparently, in his all-knowing mind, this must mean I'm faking it. He finally gives me a drop of oral analgesic to examine my eye. Claims that there's no abrasion, my eyes are just very dry.… Have I tried artificial tears, he asks? Yes, I respond. Also an eye wash to dislodge foreign matter, both without relief. This is noy satisfactory though, his nurse must give my crying, watery eye *more* tears, and is shocked when they once again, do absolutely nothing. At this point, the numbing drop is wearing off and I am reduced back to a painful, teary-eyed mess unable to see. Can I have another one, I ask, just so I can physically get to opthalmology, where they want to send me? No, I am told I don't need it. I listen to a man coming in after me for mild arthritic back pain offered pain medicine before any exam is done, and seethe. Turns out, I had not one, but two corneal abrasions even the world's least trained doctor could have seen because they were so large. The opthalmology department gave me the numbing agent I so desperately needed, and fitted me with a protective contact lens as well as antibiotic drops. After 4 hours of being made to wait only to be condescended to and dismissed, Dr. Tinsdale was the gem who actually helped me feel better.

I saw this doctor in the emergency room. I never leave reviews. Overall I was very satisfied in how he listens and explains the test results.
