Dr. Alex Childs, MD

This doctor office claim to have Godly wisdom and understanding while playing Christian music however not being really in tune with God in how to properly care for patients. I have had 4 laparoscopic procedures and two laparotomy surgical procedures and I thought I was in good hands. I was in the worst pain I have ever been after having a bilateral cyst removable, endometrial scar tissue removal , removed, tilted uterus tacted back to not be tilted and was told if my appendix looked bad they would take it out in which they did. After the procedure I had extreme pain shooting down my pelvis and hurt to be and Edema swelling with 8cm of free fluid that wouldn’t resolves for 4 months and had to be sent to a infertility special to drain due to the fluid not resolving. The nurses were rude and the doctor was trying to send me back with all the above with complaints in the standard four weeks time and finally the PA wrote me off for months I had pain and problems creating fluid on my body… where I had chest tightness due to surgery where a paramedic to my vitals and said they needed to get the fluid off my body. This doctor to care less. I spoke to another patient in waiting room who spoke about after seeing him she was in much more pain. I believe that when he is performing surgeries he is either hitting or cutting things or doing things that cause other painful conditions and versus owning up to some issues in messing up procedures that act like narcissistic people and gaslight you when speaking about pain in symptoms. I remember praying to God to ask why I was have pelvis pain so bad and especially a lightening bolt pain still 8 months til this day that gets triggered and God led me to interstitial cystitis in which I had never experienced until having a surgery by Dr. Child’s nor did I ever have complications after any of my procedures. They don’t address concerns it’s all about the money. Nurses and staff are rude and condescending and act like they don’t know why you are in pain. Stay away from this doctor and if you read the reviews with complications and pain after coming to him they are True.

Dr. Childs has the rudest nurses. I have even spoke to him about his nurse, especially ones starting with a A and a T. He says a b and c but when you speak to them again they are still rude. They argue with you and dont call in your medicine even though Dr. Childs says he doesnt see why since that was in your chart. This same nurse, T, also said that Dr. Childs says to not bother him?!

Dr. Childs and his staff were amazing. I was really scared when I visited his office for the first time a couple of weeks ago. I was treated with such respect and they all gave my husband and me the time to answer any questions we had. Dr. Childs and his entire office made me feel so relaxed and at ease by explaining every procedure and made sure all of my concerns we addressed. I would recommend him to anyone of my family and friends. You need to keep this doctor and staff! Excellent!!

I love 3 hours South of Birmingham and he truly cares about helping patients having a better quality of life and living pain free. He takes time to listen and will help find solutions. Thank the Lord for physicians like this!

Dr. Childs is an amazing Doctor. He is so kind and caring. He spends lots of time with his patients. He is a man of honor and integrity. He will do what is right even if doing so might impact him in a negative way. Truly, a Godly man.

I thought there would be no way I could feel comfortable seeing a man but he was supper nice

I have never had to wait. My pelvic pain was intense and Dr. Childs showed appropriate concern and referred me to a local PT (I live 4-5 hours away). I have been to his office 3 times and would actually like to return as my pelvic pain issue has reared its painful head! I trust his knowledge and contacts and appreciate the way he explains things. I wonder if he would accept me? Nevertheless I would recommend him. Wait time is that some patients have sever issues or travel 5 hours so I don't mind the wait because it could be me!

Best bedside manner of any doctor. He takes his time if you have questions & treats you as if you were his only patient. His staff responds quickly when I call with a concern or needing a refill. Worth any wait to get an appointment or to be seen. He is very effective treating pelvic pain.

(screaming) ABSOLUTELY THE BEST DOCTOR I HAVE EVER HAD! Cronic severe pain and 7 doctors later someone recommended me to him. It did take a long time to get in with him, and I did have to wait in the waiting room a long time...BUT EVERY BIT WORTH IT. (we have a neurosurgeon in the family who says the best doctors are the ones you have to wait a long time to see...you can wait for the best or you can go to someone who doesn't make you wait (probably because they are not such a good doc? just sayin) The reason you have to wait in the waiting room is because he takes TIME with each patient, he answers all your questions, he has THE BEST bedside manner, he is very caring. He even prays with/for you at your request! He is truly a GOD send! Getting your first appointment will take some time...he is only one man and has just so many hours in a day. I would advise any new patients to prepare for a long wait, do not bring your children...but know that when he sees you, you will have his… undivided attention as long as you need it. His staff is exceptional and courteous. I would and have recommended him highly!
