Dr. Alex Gitelman, MD

A month ago, I had back surgery at the Stamford Hospital. In my personal opinion Dr. Gitelman did an excellent job and I am very happy with the results. Dr. Gitelman was personable, approachable and very precise in all the information before the operation. The staff at the hospital where very well organized and I did not have to be all day waiting for the staff to get me home. It was quick and I never felt hurried or not attended too but the opposite. I recommend Dr. Gitelman very highly and would use him again for any problems down the line of my life. Thank You Dr. Gitelman.

I had severe spinal stenosis. With nerve pain down both legs every day. Been seeing Dr. Illig pain management doctor for 2 years prior to seeing Dr. Gitelman in same office trying to avoid surgery. Dr. Illig said there was not much more he could do for me and suggested I see Dr. Gitelman in his office a spine surgeon. All I could say I don’t know why I waited 2 years for the surgery. Everything went well and I feel like brand new. Dr. Gitelman is an easy Doctor to talk to and he listens very well. He gives you the facts and let’s you decide. I recommend him to anyone having spinal surgery. He is straight forward and to the point and he has a great personality.

I am not sure where to begin-I suffered with severe back pain shooting to my legs for two years. I had four injections which helped at first but then pain just started to get worse. Physical therapy and chiro helped for a day or two. One day I was in so much pain that a coworker recommended I see Dr. Gitelman. I did my homework and he seemed more than qualified. I saw him in the office and he took much more time than I ever expected him to. I had a very complex condition with severe pressure on the nerves and three slipped vertebra. It would be a big surgery, and he gave me a lot of information and asked me to think about it, talk with my family, and get back to him with any questions. I spoke to him on the phone, and he took the time to answer all my questions and concerns. I never felt rushed, and he was always patient and reassuring. The surgery went great, and as he warned me I had a lot of pain for the first week, but then got better quickly. It’s been six months now,… and there isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t think of him and thank him-I have no pain in my back or legs, back to running and riding my bike, and I finally have my life back. He is the best!!

Fantastic Surgeon assisted by a fantastic nerve Doctor. This is the first time since 2015 that I am finally pain free. Doctor Gitelman performed a Laminectomy and a Fusion on my L1 to L4 region of my lower spine. Recovery with PT at the ENCLAVE was ordered by him along with a pain free Bone Growth Stimulator and I am slowly, but surely recovering. Suffice it to say that it took a long time for me to develop that bone spur which touched a nerve in the lower interior of my spine, but now I am finally PAIN FREE thanks to Doctor Gitelman. Good Man and listens to and answers every question that you may have about your pain.

HAD SURGERY WITH DR. GITELMAN ALMOST TWO YEARS AGO, PAIN WAS GONE RIGHT AWAY, LEFT WITH NUMBNESS AND WEAKNESS IN BOTH LOWER LEGS SINCE SURGERY. JUST HAD A MRI, SHOWING AREA WHERE FUSION WAS ATTACHED TO DISC, THE DISC IS COMPLETELY GONE AND SCREW TIP IS RIGHT ON TOP OF SPINAL CORD--TALK ABOUT SCARY, NOW WHAT DO I DO? STAY AWAY FROM HIM.

I would give Dr. Gitelman and his team 10 stars if I could! The pain in my neck and arm was unbearable before the surgery. I am thankful my primary referred me to Dr. Gitelman. After the surgery the arm pain was gone right away. The surgery was six weeks ago, and now I am pain free for the first time in years. I cannot express my gratitude to Dr. Gitelman and his staff enough for getting my life back!

Dr. Gitelman did my low back surgery in the spring. I had debilitating low back and leg pain for years. The surgery went well, and for the first time in years I am pain-free and able to play golf and tennis for more than ten minutes. He is also down to earth and easy to talk to, and returned my phone call and emails very quickly. Could not be happier with the experience and the outcome!

I had a minimally invasive neck fusion surgery with Dr Gitelman. Everything went exactly as planned, the terrible arm pain was gone almost right away, and six weeks later I am back to my usual workouts. He was always responded quickly to my calls and emails, and took the time to explain everything and answer all my questions. Highly recommend, wouldn't go to anyone else.

Dr Gitelman was highly recommended to my by a coworker to treat my back and leg pain when the physiotherapy and my chiropractor couldn't help me. He accurately diagnosed a disk problem, and did a minimally invasive surgery to help me. The pain is gone, and I'm back to running just two months later. Couldn't be happier with his care and his staff!
