Dr. Alex Gutierrez

. Alex Gutierrez believes in a state of the art orthodontic practice. Using the latest technologies and providing the highest quality of orthodontic treatment available, he is devoted to delivering the best care to his patients, their families, and the community.
As he puts it, "The specialty of Orthodontics is the combination of art, science and medicine that allows me not only to help people medically but also to provide them with a life lasting beautiful smile and increased self esteem."
Integrating his practice into the community is very dear to Dr. Gutierrez's heart.  He was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico and has lived in Central, FL since 1987. Family has always been very important to Dr. Gutierrez, and he strives to create that kind of environment in his practice. Fluent in Spanish, and active in the Catholic Church, Dr. Gutierrez is dedicated to serving the community through organized dentistry and orthodontics, teaching, and lending a helping hand through various volunteer …projects.
Dr. Gutierrez is an Invisalign certified provider. He specializes in TMJ disorder, Laser Dentistry, Distraction Osteogenesis, Implant supported anchorage and Lingual braces.
When he's not practicing orthodontics, Dr. Gutierrez enjoys motorcycle racing, water sports, snowboarding and computer technology. Dr. Gutierrez is involved with the American Motorcycle Association and Florida Trail Riders Association.
Credentials:
Dr. Gutierrez obtained his B.S. in Molecular Biology and Microbiology graduating with honors from the University of Central Florida in 1997. He received his D.D.S. degree from the Baltimore College of Dental Surgery, University of Maryland in 2001, where he received the Pierre Fauchard International Academy of Dentistry Award for Academic Excellence, Leadership, and Community Service. During dental school he was honored by Who's Who among American Colleges and Universities for his academic achievement and leadership. Following Dental school, Dr. Gutierrez completed a Fellowship in Orthodontics for the General Practitioner at the University of Florida. After a successful fellowship, he made the decision to further pursue the specialty of Orthodontics.  Dr. Gutierrez completed specialty training in Orthodontics & Dentofacial Orthopedics in 2006 at St. Barnabas Medical Center in New York City.  Where he received various awards and distinctly served as chief resident during his senior year.
Most recently, Dr. Alex Gutierrez was named a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics. Having successfully completed all required training and testing, he has been afforded the honor of being named a Board Certified Specialist in Orthodontics
He is currently an active member of the: American Association of Orthodontics, Southern Association of Orthodontics, Florida Association of Orthodontics, American Dental Association, Florida Dental Association,  The Academy of General Dentistry, Hillsborough County Dental Association and Hillsborough County Dental Research Clinic.
