Dr. Alexa Nicole Lean

I came to Dr. Lean for help with life altering, debilitating end stage hip arthritis. To give you an explanation of how bad the hip joint is, it no longer exists. It is an unrecognizable mesh of bone fused into other bone with cysts and other abnormal bodies that are not present in a healthy hip joint. A total hip replacement is scheduled for over 2 months away and the pain is unbearable. Dr. Lean discussed some options that I explained had not worked in the past. Physical therapy, (nerve pain medication) and injections into the non-existent hip joint that the Orthopedic surgeon had warned was not an option prior to surgery. I told her about the injection not being an option and she scheduled it anyway. I told her about nerve pain medication not working in the past and making me dizzy and she prescribed it. I told her about physical therapy not working and and she prescribed it. This is the definition of insanity by my definition. I called the orthopedic surgeon and they insisted NO… INJECTIONS. I sent a message to Dr. Lean in the UCI My Health App and she NEVER read it according to another Dr. I spoke with during Pre Op evaluation. Dr. Lean completely ignored my message. I had to call the UCI patient liaison and they spoke to the office manager and not even Dr. Lean and no answer was ever given in a reasonable manner. Dr. Lean never responded. I sent another message informing Dr. Lean that my pain level had increased to the point that I am not sleeping at all and I can't live a productive life currently. This message was ignored once again and someone other than Dr. Lean answered with some useless suggestion to come in early but there was no plan of care to speak of. Today I went to Dr. Lean's office but I saw a different Dr. and he asked me about medications that helped in the past. I tole him and he asked me more than once if I ever abused medication or alcohol. I NEVER ABUSED EITHER! I don't know if Dr. Lean and her colleagues are lying to me or miscommunicating but they are not forthcoming with any information and they certainly are not helping me with any quality of life to speak of. If you are in pain and desperately need help, this is not the treatment you want or deserve. No one should be treated this poorly and left feeling hopeless and frankly not worth living. I still have two months to go and no relief in the near future. Please find yourself a reputable Dr. and get the help you deserve. The UCI Pain Management Team is less than adequate and clearly have no interest in helping patients. At least not me. Hopeless in Orange County.
