Dr. Alexander C Black, MD

After having a CT scan I was referred to to Dr. Black because a mass was spotted on the scan. He immediately diagnosed me with pancreatic cancer and arranged a stent to be placed the next day by Dr Kaushal who is a GI doctor. Dr Kaushal decided to place a stent that was permanent due to Dr Blacks rush to judgement. As it turns out I did not have pancreatic cancer as the result of a biopsy when the stent was placed. I do have a type of cancer but with treatment four and half years later I am still alive but suffering from the wrong stent placement that cannot be removed. I have had numerous hospitalizations because of Dr Blacks and Dr Kaushals rush to diagnosis. Maybe they should have obtained a biopsy before they acted. By the way several stents are removable but Dr Kaushal chose to place a stent that attaches to the tissue and can't be removed. Stay away from these doctors there are much better choices out there if you are a cancer patient. I wish I had never met them. Its… seems like they were in such a rush.

My oncologist retired and I found Dr. Alexander C. Black and I am so grateful and thankful to him and his staff. They are great and informative and Dr. Black always calls me back in a timely manner. He is compassionate and wonderful and I feel that with him I can handle anything. AFM

I really like Dr Black. I have seen him three or four times. He referred me to 2 other doctors to ensure my care was completely covered. When I sent him some additional testing I had done elsewhere, he called me to explain the results personally. He is extremely smart yet down to earth. He is one of my favorite doctors and I've seen quite a few.

I am surprised to read the reviews printed here. They seem to be about someone else! My experience with DR. Black AND his staff are the best I have had with any doctor in my life. He truly seems to be the smartest guy in the room. His staff has always treated me as the focus of their business and been respectful of my time. One review say the Doctor was more interested in treating the disease than the patient. I have Cancer, the big C, and I want the doctor treating the disease aggressively not holding my hand . My first visit he mapped out three scenarios of treatment depending on the results of blood tests they were ordering. He also was very clear and caring on how this would affect my life and family.The outline for my future treatment was clearly meant to inform me and put my mind at ease. His original prognosis has turned out to be right on. Another reviewer holds the Dr. responsible because the reviewer herself forgets what questions she wanted to ask! We are all… responsible to be our own advocates no matter what medical care we are undergoing. The reviewer who holds the Doctor responsible for his fathers death gives us no details about other Doctors or treatments involved and who signs a death certificate is a very tricky grey area of our medical system. Dr. Alexander Black is the finest Doctor I have seen for any reason. I have entrusted my life to him.

I hold this doctor responsible for my father's death! He diagnosed my father with non hodgkins lymphoma and started him on Rituxan treatments. During the course of my dad's treatment my father lost 40 pounds!! When we asked Dr. Black about this his response was that it was not from the cancer. Who cares? 40 pounds is a tremendous amount of weight to lose in a relatively short amount of time. He was my dad's doctor for about two years and when my dad went into Henry Mayo (terrible hospital), we never heard from Dr. Black! My father quickly went downhill, likely due to his dimished weight and died two weeks later. Although this man had been his doctor for a long time, he would not sign the death certificate (another doctor had to) and he never called us to talk to us! However, his office did call my mother the next week to remind her of my dad's upcoming appt. I would not let this man treat my pet rat, much less any person I cared about. Stay Away!!!!
