Dr. Alexander J. Gallan, MD

Dr. Gallan is the Director of Renal Pathology at MCW and Medical Director of the MCW Reference Laboratory / Electron Microscopy Laboratory. He is an Associate Professor of Pathology and Medicine (Nephrology). Dr. Gallan serves as a resource for nephrologists at MCW/Froedtert as well as other hospital systems and private practices across the Midwest to provide accurate and rapid biopsy results that drive patient care. He is also part of the genitourinary and heart transplant pathology teams. His major areas of academic interest include the role of complement in kidney diseases including thrombotic microangiopathy, the pathogenesis of glomerular diseases, pathologic markers of renal transplant rejection, and the correlation of pathologic and molecular findings in kidney cancer. Dr. Gallan is also passionate about teaching medical students, residents, and fellows.As a pathologist, you may never meet me in person, but I am working hard behind the scenes to provide you with the same high …quality and thoughtful care that I would my own family. My job is analyze the tissue from your biopsy or surgical procedure under the microscope and make an accurate diagnosis, which guides your other doctors to offer you the most effective care.
