Dr. Alexander J Greenstein, MD

Not only does Dr. Greenstein answer his own emails in a personal way, he saved my life as he did with so many other people. I also admire his high level of empathy and his willingness to explain his choice of procedures over others. Because of my trust in him, I asked him if he would check in on me for another surgery by another highly skilled surgeon, and he did. A rare and exceptional human being, and a highly skilled surgeon.

Dr. Alexander Greenstein performed emergency gallbladder surgery for me. Due to a past medical history, this surgery was not an easy or normal one. Dr. Greenstein handled it with professional care and efficiency, while comforting my family and I. Surgery went great, recovery was watched over by his team diligently, and I am on the road to recovery. Many thanks to Dr. Greenstein and his wonderful team!

After having recurrent bouts of diverticulitis, I went to Dr. Greenstein for a consult. After speaking with me and reviewing my records, he thought surgery was a good option. I had been previously been told that the surgery could not be done laparoscopically because there were many adhesions from previous surgeries. Dr. Greenstein did the surgery laparoscopically, and I was out of the hospital in three days. I had my sigmoid colon removed, and I feel better than I have in years. I am so grateful that my son recommended this brilliant surgeon to me.

Dr. Greenstein and his team are truly the best there is. We first met when I was in the hospital during a terrible UC flare up. Before knowing I’d need to have surgery, he’d kindly come to visit me at least once a day to check in, see how I was doing, and develop a relationship with me so that when the decision for surgery came, I’d be comfortable knowing him and the process. I did the 3-part surgery series. After the first surgery, I woke up feeling like I’d been hit by a miracle. I finally was able to retain calories again and gain weight and strength back — no more pain, no running to the bathroom at all hours of the day and night. I’m so grateful to have him as my doctor! Whenever a nurse would ask the name of my surgeon, they’d always respond to me saying “I love Dr. Greenstein.” And whenever a nurse would see my surgery result, they’d say “you must have had a good surgeon.” He and his work are widely respected. Dr. Greenstein and his team gave me back control of my… life. The surgery process isn’t easy, but if you’re colon is sick like mine was, you can feel comfort knowing that the worst is over once you’re in Dr. Greenstein’s hands. He works magic. And! He responds to emails in a snap — it’s so comforting to know that he is reliable and efficient in answering questions and comforting concerns. Thank you, Dr. Greenstein and team!!!!

I was referred to Dr. Greenstein by my GI, Dr. Legnani. I had been sufering with my Crohn's diesase for the last two years. I instantly loved Dr. Greenstein. He made me feel comfortable and confident with the procedure he had to perform. He was very personable and down to earth. He explained everything in depth and answered any questions that I had. The surgery was performed the next week. He did a double resection, with no ostomy bag needed. I was out of the hospital on day 4 and quickly recovered. Even down to my post-op visit, Dr. Greenstein was amazing. I highly recommend him and his team!

Dr. Greenstein literally saved my life. I was living if you could call it that with severe crohns disease that spread to my colon as well as my terminal ileum. Dr. Greenstein gave me a miracle when he performed a double resection on me and I didn’t even need a bag. He was so friendly and kind and explained things to me in a way that even a 5 year old could understand the surgery and what he was going to do and how he was going to do it. I had a fast recovery. After being transported from another hospital for emergency surgery I was fortunate that I was introduced to Dr Greenstein. His work in surgery saved my life and allowed for a speedy recovery. I cant say enough about this doctor.

Dr. Greenstein is beyond the best . My son has suffered many years with Crohns disease. We were faced with needing surgery . We were referred to Dr. Greenstein for his expertise with such surgery. I'm a nurse so I wanted nothing but the best for my son. And I found it with his skill and caring way. We came from North Carolina for his care. Beyond excellent.

Dr Greenstein and his team are outstanding. After months of testing and medications my symptoms never improved. I finally ended up needing emergency surgery. Dr. Greenstein performed two surgical procedures at once - took out my gall bladder and resectioned my small intestine because of my Chron's disease. He was efficient and explained everything to me, which made me feel very comfortable in going through the surgery. It's three weeks and I'm so glad he convinced me to have both procedures done at the same time. I can't imagine having stomach surgery twice! I suggest him to anyone who is looking for a high caliber surgeon.
