Dr. Alexander M Kanevsky, MD

I am the patient of Dr. Kanevsky for 3 years. He is very knowledgeable in his field. He is very caring with the patients. I never heard anything inappropriate from him during my visits. He is always polite and helpful. After my appointment with the doctor, I need to make the appointment with the therapist. This is the policy of the office which I attend. I do not believe that Dr. A. Kanevsky could behave differently with other women.

This man completely took advantage of my wife during manic and delusional state for his own purposes. By say he would make her famous, by having her believe she had heavenly gifts and healing powers, and by encouraging her to be unfaithful. By saying he could cure her bipolar if she would only go to his private practice. He is an artist and I believe he had wished to Attempt An inappropriate and physical relationship with her. This man should not be allowed anywhere near with mental health issues!

If you are in his office for the right reason, with the right intentions, Dr. Kanevsky can and will save your life. Just listen to him. He knows what he is talking about. Even in 15 minute visits, his advice is invaluable. I only wish that I could put him on a retainer! Thank you for everything Dr. Kanevsky!

Spent less than 15 minutes for the very first visit -- never read the file - knew no history on what the situation was -- didnt read the list of current medications; prescribed new medication - come back in 3 months he said!!!! "Our" co-pay after insurance was $175 for 15 minutes!! Not worth a dime!

I find the positive comments about this doctor interesting how they mention "addictive medication". I don't see how anybody who is posting on this(or any other website that reviews doctors)is qualified to comment on anybody else's experience or on what kind of medications they take or request from the doctor. It kind of makes me wonder where the positive comments are coming from. As for my experience with this doctor, my first visit was so fast I could have left my car running. Ten minutes or so for a first psychiatrist visit is unacceptable for someone with a long history of anxiety problems. First time he told me nothing was wrong with me. Next visit my anxiety was getting so bad I was starting to wonder if I was going to be able to continue to work. He prescribed medication that didn't work in the past and rushed me out of his office with a visit that was even faster then the first. Never mentioned or offered counseling. If I could give negative stars I would.

I know people get angry when they can't get their controlled scripts which is why I was willing to wean off of mine to get something non-addictive for my anxiety. This man saved my life!

As a professional with several masters degrees, I had done my research for a doctor to replace the one I had been seeing for 12 years. I was looking forward to my meeting with Dr. Kanevsky. As such a highly renown doctor with numerous accolades I expected so much more. At the very minimum, the very least, I did not expect to be literally "dumped" as a client while a professional was titrating down from an opiod medication. Why? I had 13 doctors- 10 from the same spinal pain management office. Totally unprofessional.

This dr never took the time to get to know my physical or mental health issues. He said i need to stop all my medicines, that I've been on for 20 years. Then live a holistic life. After 10 minutes he said to check into a detox program. If you go to the New Life program, refuse to see him as your psychiatrist. Everybody else would be a better choice than him.

Too casual and did not listen to patients concerns. Was sanctioned in nj for scamming 89 year old patient.

If this is the same Dr Kanevsky that works at the New Life clinic. He is the worst Doctor I had the misfortune of meeting.
