Dr. Alexander Francis Mericli, MD

To start, I really like Dr Mericli and feel he is very competent However with the Cordova virus at epic stages I felt that I should not return to Houston for my follow up appt to have stitches and tubes removed since basically we were in a lockdown and could put me and my caretaker at risk. I asked for a referral to Dallas based on the circumstances of the epidemic and i am 75 years of age but was told that he did not know anyone to recommend me to in the Dallas/FW area. I was told I could get my own but as you know that is virtually impossible without a referral since I was already a patient of another plastic surgeon. I had no intention of changing doctors. I just needed to get my stitches removed and the surgical procedure looked a suggested timeframe. I also needed advice on where do I go from here. I had the stitches and tubes removed with someone I could find that would do it but certainly would have felt more comfortable with a plastic surgeon. It is hard for me to… believe under these unusual conditions and with the safety and well being of patients paramount, MD Anderson does not have a list of referral doctors to use under very unprecedented circumstances. So as not to be misunderstood, I think Dr Mericli is an excellent surgeon I have used him before as a referral from Dr. Linn, my sarcoma surgeon at MDAnderson but these circumstances with the virus warranted other options available for the patient and the doctor The hospital and the Plastic Dept should have these available in my opinion only to be used under very unusual circumstances. This was those circumstances.
