Avoid at all costs. I’ve been living in NYC for 11 years and this has been the worst experience at a doctor that I’ve ever had. My appointment was scheduled for 6:15 pm, and I had gotten the Zoc Doc reminders. I even got one at 4:45 via text. When I arrived at 6 pm the lady at the front desk told me I did not have an appointment. After a long back and forth I had to show her the zocdoc reminder on my phone, which she didn’t believe and examined closely until she realized I had scheduled. She then said: “Oh, Zocdoc, yeah... you should not schedule with them”. This leads me to believe Zocdoc is no longer a reliable platform (after using it for many years). So, she tells me the doctor will “fit me in” and I should fill the paperwork. Ok, so I do that and then she tells me there’s a $5 copay. However, she told me they don’t take credit cards for an amount so small and had me go to a nearby ATM to get her that money in cash. 10 mins later I get back, and she tells me the Dr is still… with a patient and it “won’t be too long”. So there’s a waiting room with ~15 chairs, out of which 13 are full. Apparently social distancing doesn’t matter in this office because when I decided to stand up somewhere less crowded another lady told me I couldn’t stand up, and that I either sat down or reschedule my appointment. So... I sit down, and wait... and wait... and wait some more. At 7 pm I ask them how much longer I have to wait for my 6:15 appointment. They say “the doctor is finishing up with one patient and then there’s another one before you”. I stood up and left, not without being vocal about my frustration with this whole process and customer service. Didn’t see the Dr, but based on all the issues above, I suggest: avoid at all costs!

$3400 for what had been $ 200 before. I am a registred nurse in an operating room and know I overpaid at Dr. Alexander Nicolaides' office. I had a bean size sebaceous gland removed from my scalp before, a 15 minutes procedure and it costed me $200 cash. On Sept 2018 I had it redone by Dr. Nicolaides, he seemed like a nice guy, the lidocaine did not work well and it was a painful produce, but what HURT the most was his office charging my insurance $3400 for the visit and procedure. Later insurance paid $2470 and I received a $630 bill on the mail. I went back to the office to try to understand their billing and how they charged me so much money. All a got from the not friendly billing person was "I can give you your medical record if you have any qustions you ask me"," you cant see the doctor and there is no nurse that can talk to you". My mistake was to trust the "nice doctor" and not ask how much he would charge for a 15min/minor procedure/ that had cost me $200 before.… I would never go back to his office again, besides the overcharging, the billing person does not care about the patients at all not even trying to listen to me. I feel like was scamed/robbed. I am back in school right now to become a NP, I understand health care is a business but I will never tolerate in my place of work someone treat patients like I was treated. I just wanted to share my experience at Dr. Alexander Nicolaides' office. If you do decide to go there dont make the mistakes I made.

we travel close to 3hrs just to see Alex. He solved my daughters acne and i had some fillers done in my laugh lines and we are soooo happy!!! thanks Alex

I called to ask about a procedure I wanted the Doctor to perform. The receptionist was abrupt and rude with her answer.

I brought my daughter there and even though we were on time for our appointment, we waited 90 min to see a doctor. I asked the staff memeber at the desk, why the long wait and I was told we would be next. Instead 2 other patients who had arrived after us (30 min after us) were seen before us. The doctor made some half hearted excuses and apologies. The staff continued to be rude and unhelpful. The staff there definetly see the patients as nothing more than a nuisance. I do not recommend this practice.

Best experience ever!!! Had an early morning appointment and waited about 15min. On my after 4pm apt. waited a little longer but never so long to be upset. He is the Best!!! Everyone wants to see him (seen the PAs as well...also good) so he is busy! I had a mole that two other dermatologists failed to notice. Dr. Nicolaides saw it and right away and told me needs biopsy. He was right!!!! He called me immediately. Early diagnosis and early treatment! He removed the mole and there is absolutely no scar! What a great hand!. He is now my dermatologist for life! He is very smart, very Knowledgeable, professional and with lots lots of experience!!!!, I totally trust him!!! By the way, its a joke to call Dr. Nicolaides ...rude! (Rude are all the rude comments written by rude people ). I Highly recommend him and his PAs!!!!

This doctor and his physician assistants are great!!! every time i go there i am treating with kindness and respect. i never have a problem! the medical assistants are kind hearted and they show compassion. the front desk might need some work but they are also very helpful and kind!!! i recommend Dr.NIcolaides and his Physician Assistants any day!!!

Doctor is engaged with patients and is very helpful positive and compassionate. The only improvement would have been the staff

IM DR NICOLAIDES PATIENT FOR YEARS AND I THINK THE DOCTOR IS A VERY GOOD DOCTOR! HE GETS RIGHT TO THE POINT AND IS ALWAYS RIGHT(WHEN IT COMES TO ME) HE DOESNT SPEAK TO MUCH BUT HES A GOD DOCTOR AND THATS ALL THAT MATTER! AS FOR THE COPAY SITUATION AND TAKING CREDIT CARS WHO CARES WHATS THE BIG DEAL IT HIS POLICY! OVERALL GOOD STAFF GOOD DOCTOR AND EASY TO GET AN APPOITMENT

Dont understand the bad reviews. I was very lucky to meet him. Very well known for his accurate diagnosis. If he weren't good he would't have so many people waiting for him (there are other derms in astoria that they are completely empty) I wonder why!!! I dont believe that these reviews were written from actual patients. I've been to this doc since this summer and I cant tell you how happy I am to finally find an excellent dermatologist. Highly recommended
