Dr. Alexander Ejiroghene Osowa, MD

My 4 kids and I have been coming to Buford Family Practice from since 2007 He is such a understanding and caring doctor. He do not rush while examining you, he make sure he explain everything to you, and after your visit you come out of his office smiling or feeling better. Thete is a Rep by the name of Emmy. I love her so much. Her personality is so excellent for that office. She never has a attitude. nor ruff you up, and never disrespect me. Everytime I request her she always comes on the phone with so much respect and calmness. She have so much empathy for my kids and myself. You never know what someone is going through in life. Sometime just visiting or calling a doctor office is stressful that all you may need is a voice and service from Emmy. Just going through this Covic 19 tragedy is so much to swallow. I have list 5 family members so far and just deal with Emmy today made me felt just a little eased. DR ALEXANDER OSAWA WILL REMAIN MY DOCTOR FOREVER. WE NEED MORE DOCTORS… LIKE HIM WITH PATIENTS AND UNDERSTANDING TOWARD THEIR PATIENTS.

I would give zero stars if it were at all possible. When I changed insurance providers I was no longer able to get prescriptions filled by CVS, which is where my family has gone forever. My new insurance company only has a contract with Walgreen's. A couple of weeks after getting a pain medication filled at Walgreen's that I have been taking for years, I noticed daily nausea and headaches. I realized the only thing I had changed was pharmacies, so I called both CVS and Walgreen to ask about the manufacturer of the pain med and found they were using two different ones. Walgreen's agreed to order from a different manufacturer to see if it made a difference with how I was feeling. I was told to ask my doctor (Osowa) to send over another prescription with a note indicating that it was to replace the last prescription and they would have the order in the following day and fill it right away to get me some relief. Great customer service!! However, I did not receive this type of treatment… from Dr. Osowa. First of all, this conversation took place on Monday morning, I immediately called Dr. Osowa's office afterwards and explained the situation to the receptionist. She said she would send him a note asking him to fill it for the remaining 14 days left in the current prescription, which I said was fine. She also said she would follow up with him and call me back. I got that call on Wednesday morning. The receptionist called to say that Dr. Osowa said I need to schedule an appt. to come in and see him before he would call in the 14 days remaining on a prescription he had already written for me. She also said that I would need to bring the remaining pills in my current prescription with me so I could, "turn them in." Without hesitation I scheduled a same day appointment so I could get some relief as quickly as possible. When I arrived at the appointment I realized that I was exactly 2 weeks (14 days) away from my next refill appointment with Dr. Osowa, which is done every 3 months. When I got into the exam room and discussed why I was there with the CNA she said she is surprised we had to have an actual appointment. She said they usually have the patient drop off the medicine (no appt.) and then they send in the prescription for the replacement. She also noted that my blood pressure was extremely high (140/100), which is highly unusual. We attributed it to the pain I was in and feeling so sick. So, I decided to go back up the receptionist and let her know that I wanted to make this appointment my prescription refill appt., since it was scheduled for only 2 weeks away. She said, "ask Dr. Osowa about it, but it should be okay." I went back to the exam room and waited for Dr. Osowa. When he walked into the exam room I reminded him of why I was there and stated that since I was asked to schedule an actual appt. to simply drop off my remaining prescription and waited almost an hour and a half to be seen, I wanted to also make this my prescription refill visit so I didn't have to return 2 weeks later. His response was "no" and that it needed to be 2 different visits. I asked what was the difference in what needed to be done on my visit today and my visit in 2 weeks and he could not give a real response. He just kept saying he would not count today as my prescription refill visit and if he did, then he would NOT take back the remaining pills in my prescription bottle that were now sitting on the counter right next to him. I said that I didn't understand why it would be necessary to only do one or the other since 1.) this visit is regarding my prescription. 2.) I was only changing out the meds he had already prescribed and 3.) that making today my prescription refill appt. didn't change when my prescription would be due again. The only real, obvious explanation was that he wanted to charge me and the insurance company for two different visits, instead of one. My heart sank and he could care less. I mentioned my blood pressure being high today because of my pain level and still he said nothing... I asked him point blank, if he would take back the pills I brought and send the 14 day prescription to Walgreen's right away so I could get the new ones on my way home and he said, "not if today is a prescription refill day." My husband was sitting there the entire time in total disbelief. He walked out of the room right after Dr. Osowa said that and waited in the car because he could not believe a doctor would stand there and weigh out his money over doing what was right for a patient. Dr. Osowa is not a good doctor to begin with...on a good day. He is sarcastic, has no bedside manner and is never very congenial, to say the least. Most of the time I see the NP so I can avoid him altogether. My husband and I both have been saying we need to find another primary care physician, but then get too busy to actually look....I found one as soon as I got home today. I am tired of his greedy, petty, unprofessional manner. He has no respect or genuine concern for his patients. It's all about his bottom line.

Dr Osowa is the most caring Dr I’ve ever Encountered he keeps me straight and healthy and he takes his time to explain the effects of medicine and other things I may not fully understand

There has been an extreme decline in the staff in both locations for the passed year or two. I am not sure why Dr. Osowa is allowing this to happen. But he is not being represented well. Save yourself time and headache. Go elsewhere

My name is Niki E. Nightingale and I am honored to have Dr. Alexander Osowa as my primary care physician for the past 8 years. Dr. Osowa has been able to keep me at age 54 without taking any type of medication by telling me how to eat healthy and what exercise routine to follow. Dr. Osowa is caring, professional, effective, and efficient and he is committed to serve his community. I have realized that Dr. Osowa set himself aside from other doctors because he is committed to abide by the code of ethics that guide his profession at all times. Dr. Alexander Osowa is and outstanding physician and excellent human being.

I am 33 and my children and I have been going to Buford Family Practice for years. I rarely get to see Dr. Osowa, however he does have a lot of mid level providers, with a high turnover rate. I had been complaining of rectal bleeding for over a year, each provider continued to insist that it was due to hemorrhoids. I finally got someone to listens to me. I was given a referral to a GI specialist for a colonoscopy. The result: Stage III rectal cancer. I could’ve been diagnosed much earlier had I not been brushed off.

Long story short... my husband went to him for back pain and some anomalous blood work on a life insurance exam we thought might be related. He prescribed a muscle relaxer known to cause back spasms and even after back spasms left my husband on the floor unable to get up and needing to come back and enter the facility in a WHEELCHAIR he wouldn't change the prescription. He assumed my husband was lying about his alcohol consumption and that he was an alcoholic based on his blood work. Within a couple months of seeing a good doctor who actually INVESTIGATED the anomalous blood work and asked for followups, etc. we found out my husband has a form of cancer, Multiple Myeloma. Thank God he stopped seeing Dr. Osowa. My husband would probably still be pain, probably more than ever before, and still slowly dying of a cancer we knew nothing about.

As soon as I arrived, I thought things might not be so good since the sign outside said "Walk ins welcome." This is not a good sign of a successful doctor. The waiting room receptionist was friendly. Waited one and a half hours to see Dr. Osowa before I complained. Then he saw me right away. I have a compromised immune system due to anti rejection drugs that I take to prevent rejecting my transplanted kidney. Dr. Osowa came from seeing another patient without washing his hands, so I nicely asked him if he would. He said he would, but that it's "totally unnecessary." He said that he has many other transplant patients and they have not become ill from his not washing his hands. This is the most absurd thing I have every heard from a medical doctor and wonder if he has a real degree. He couldn't wash his hands in the examining room because the sinks don't work (another bad sign). Since any contamination can put me in the hospital, I decided it was safer to leave than continue there.… Having clean hands is the most important thing that doctors and nurses can due to keep their patients healthy. Either Dr. Osowa really doesn't know this or doesn't care. Either one is really scary.

All five of my children, my son in law and I all see Dr Osowa for our healthcare needs. I am extremely taken back from the negative reviews I've read below. At 47, I thought bedside manner and moral values were long gone. Not w/ Osowa. #ForeverGrateful for his ability to think outside the box and heal the inner me, not just the surface. Front office staff could improve, but if you can get past that, it's worth it. #IamSelfPay (no insurance) and wouldn't go elsewhere.
