Dr. Alexandra Maria Fotiou, MD

Dr Fotiou has been treating me for 15 years and is amazing. I’m shocked to read the reviews on this website because she has completely changed my functioning with regard to PTSD and anxiety. She is a great listener and has always seemed to genuinely care about me as a human. When I have needed medication adjustments she is very thorough in monitoring me through that. She is reliable and is always able to answer any question I have had about medications. She has never me down. As a person who did not want to have to take medication, she took it slow with me so I could be comfortable and find the right fit for medications that we were both comfortable with.

I had the terrible misfortune of being a patient of Dr. Fotiou years ago. She misdiagnosed my postpartum depression and PTSD as bipolar 2. She over medicated me, and failed to monitor for tardive dyskinesia using the AIMs scale. I developed extremely bad tardive dyskinesia from abilify. She then lied and told me nothing else she had me on could cause it, so l continued the other meds. Months later l developed horrible tardive dyskinesia once again from zoloft. I called her office everyday for 4 days once the movements had started, and she refused to speak to me about it. She pawned me off on my therapist while the TD gradually worsened. She only responded once it was back severely. Each time it happened l also had to stop the offending meds cold turkey which caused awful withdrawal symptoms. It's been nearly 6 years since l developed the TD. The symptoms are nearly gone, except that they can be brought back from small doses of medicines that shouldn't cause it. Like topomax for… migraines. I have had to adjust to living without any prescription medications. My brain signaling is so damaged it reminds me of a dormant volcano. The littlest things set off the movements. I still have worse anxiety and PTSD because of Dr. Fotiou. I struggle to trust medical professionals. This is very personal information to post online but l don't want others hurt by her. I regret not having sued her. It is expensive treating my health naturally, which is now my only safe option. Her bad bedside manner, coldness, and focus on weight to the exclusion of all else just add to the misery. Run as fast as you can from her. Your health and safety depend on it

I went to dr fotiou for help, I am in ECT THERAPY and took a break because of the pain she told me I didn't feel pain because I was sleeping. Anyon9who has ever had ECT knows how painful it is, she offered know help except talking. She refused to give me the only medication that worked for me that I had been on for years, I told her I couldn't stop crying or even get out of bed she did not care, do not go to her she does not care if you live or die and is only in it for the money. I feel when I talked she did not even listen

I wish I had looked at the Reviews before I wasted my time, dr fotiou is an absolutely horrible person and dr. I went to her begging for help explained I have tried every medication out their and only 2 have worked, it is on previous records those medications save my life on a daily basis, I have 4 kids and without my medication I can't get out of bed, I go for ECT therapy told her how painfu8it was and she replied no it's not your sleeping during it, anyone who has ever had ECT knows how painful it is after you wake up, she did not offer any kind of help except talking. She does not care about you as a person or a patient and does not care if you live or die. Anyone with a mental illness knows I do not chose to stay in bed I cry nonstop and have suicidal thought everyday and the medicine I took helped control that,

Dr. Fotiou is arrogant and condescending. She is borderline insulting to her patients (at least to this patient). On the plus side, it is pretty easy to get in to see her.

Dr. Fotiou has no clue what she is doing. Worst doctor ever. In wrong profession
