Dr. Barragan is board-certified by the American Board of Surgery as a general surgeon, as well as a fellowship-trained hand surgery specialist. After finishing his general surgery residency and hand fellowship, Dr. Barragan returned to Lubbock, TX to join SWAT Surgical Associates, L.L.P.

Some of the most common procedures he performs are open finger fracture, hand tendon laceration repair, nerve repair, carpal tunnel surgery, broken arm/hand/finger repair, ganglion cyst removal, trigger finger surgery, and many others. Because the overall well-being of his patients is his primary concern, Dr. Barragan firmly believes in trying non-operative measures whenever possible. When he is not caring for patients, he participates in triathlons and in his church.

Dr.B is brilliant. He's given me my hands back after 15 years of suffering. All those folks that have anything negative to say must be Trump supporters. They're never happy unless their 'saint' is lying again.

Dr. Barragan and his staff was so kind, so helpful, so speedy, so concerned, and so good in their care for me. Front desk knew my name without me telling them, the nurses were so cheerful and caring, x-ray was so gentle and Dr. Barragan, well what can I say? He has as much spunkiness as I do. Dr. Barragan, his anesthesiologist, and his surgical team did an amazing job and put up with little bit crazy me!! Please know I am grateful to every single one of them!! Highly recommended

Dr. Barragan is an outstanding doctor with great intelligence. He knows exactly what he’s talking about and explains everything in great detail! He sits with me every time and answers every question I have. Very friendly! Couldn’t be happier with my surgeon!

I had the best care with Dr. Barragan. Kind, patient, and thorough. He really helped ease my fears of surgery. His receptionist and nurse are also very helpful and welcoming. I'm not sure about the negative reviews. He is a hand surgeon so he doesn't work on intestines but if he did, I would trust him to work on mine! Very pleasant experience.

Best hand specialist in all of Lubbock!!! Very friendly, considerate, explains in great detail and will highly recommend to everybody I can!!!! Very VERY good!!! The bad reviews are definitely made up and un true! PLEASE don’t listen to them!!!

The wait was a bit long, but he was delayed because of an emergency. But, my appointment wasn't rushed. He sat down and told me what was going on, spent time explaining my problem and treatment options.

Very nice friendly staff. Got us scheduled on and short waiting time. And doctor seemed kind and he answered all of our questions and explained everything to us in a way that helped ease our minds. ;)

Very condescending and will not listen to what you are trying to tell him about your condition. Already pre-diagnosises before even getting the whole picture. Was told when given a consult that he is an ortho but is just a general surgeon. Is not good at small joint issues. Very displeased. Will not be returning. Will be seeking a second opinion.
