Dr. Alfonso Barrera, MD

I went to Dr. Barrera today on the recommendation of a friend who has had good results on facial procedures as well as hair loss therapies done by him. I have been wanting to try Platelet-Rich Plasma therapy for a few thin spots that have appeared in my hair. Dr. Barrera spent a lot of time discussing the procedure with me, including showing me before and after pictures of his patients who have undergone the procedure. Dr. Barrera then personally drew the blood for the procedure as well as doing the injections in my scalp. He numbed my head before doing the injections, and the procedure was painless. His bedside manner is very good and his fees are reasonable. It's obviously too early to know whether the PRP treatment will be effective for me, but I decided it was worth a shot before I go for hair transplants. Dr. Barrera and I discussed hair transplants and other procedures that I asked about, and was very open in discussing options and costs. I was very favorably… impressed by my visit, and highly recommend him.

Dr. Barrera and his staff were more than accommodating when scheduling my procedure. After the procedure they rushed me out of the office. During the follow-up visit the doctor left me with a nurse to answer my questions and remove sutures and never returned. The doctor was very nonchalant about concerns after the procedure. I actually had to have revision surgery with another doctor. Some of the staff members were rude! I would never go back!

It is my pleasure to write this review for Dr. Alfonso Barerra, a plastic surgeon specializing in hair transplantation in Houston Texas. I am a plastic surgeon working in Northern Virginia. Several years ago I met Dr. Barerra in a course on hair transplantation in one of our national meetings. Dr. Barerra was one of instructors of the course. I immediately realized the level of expertise and knowledge that Dr. Barerra possessed. At that time I told myself if I ever wanted to have this procedure done on myself I would go to him. I finally decided to have this procedure done last year. As I expected, the entire experience was perfect. He has a fantastic team of nurses and technicians that work with him to make the entire operation painless and easy. I was awake for most of the procedure and was able to converse with Dr. Barerra while I was having the procedure. After the procedure I had a quick recovery. I did not take much time off and after 2 or 3 days was back to work. Dr.… Barerra is a true gentleman and an outstanding surgeon. His artistic talent is evident in the results of the hair transplantation. It looks very natural. I myself am a very critical surgeon who does not accept any result short of perfect. Dr. Barerra has done a perfect job. I whole-heartedly recommend Dr. Barerra to anyone desiring to have hair transplantation.
