Dr. Alfonso Cervera, MD

Dr Cervera is an intelligent Oncologist, but his egocentrical personality interferes with good patient care. We are dealing with pancreatic cancer and requested a Pet Scan and testing for Lynch syndrome, both which were denied. We asked for palliative medication for anxiety and pain and were also denied and told that they weren't good for him. If we questioned his decision making, he was defensive and combative in his approach. He took days to return calls for information on scans. We have switched to someone who equals his expertise and the disparity is great. Our new physican is intelligent and displays empathy, respect and kindness. That is what we expected from Dr Cervera.

He doesn't like anyone who questions his recommendations. Although seemingly intelligent, he took days to return very important calls on scan results, etc. He denied palliative care for medications associated with anxiety related to dying. He argued referencing many aspects of the care we expected from someone that we hoped would be an empathetic and understanding doctor during this most difficult time in our lives. We changed to another Dr with the same qualifications and the disparity is huge. He genuinely cares and demonstrates empathy. He returns calls and treats us with respect.. That's what we expected from Dr Cervera. a

Dr Cervera is a great doctor who spent alot of time talking to me and answering every question I had. Even down to the most simplest question.
