Dr. Alfonso Ramos Tan, MD

This doctor is by far the most arrogant, pompous, and self-seving person that I have ever had the displeasure of meeting. He is extremely rude, pushy, and has absolutely no compassion or bedside manner. He lacks professionalism and completely forgot that as a physician, caring for people is both an honor and a privilege. He needs to seriously reconsider working with patients and families and needs to re-review his medical code of honor as a wake up call to professional practice.

Dr Tan is thorough in his approach. He does an excellent job at listening and discerning my current issues in psychological terms. Records every session in detail. When there are shifts in my symptoms he gives me treatment options and explains possible side effects. He looks for my input on treatment and doesn't merely dictate. There are times when we bump heads, but he is respectful of my needs. I have been under his care for about 7 years.

Dr Tan was knowledgeable about my problem, listened to my concerns and addressed them promptly. i was very satisfied with my treatment.

Dr. Tan is thorough and direct. He takes time to listen to my thoughts and feelings but keeps the focus on my coping strategies and how consistent I am in treatment. He routinely inquires as to my physical/mental/spiritual status at each visit. I am pleased with his professionalism and rapport with me as his patient.

Dr. Tan is excellent to work with, he is very knowledgeable of new treatments and new medications for a variety of conditions. His treatment was life changing for me. I will miss him greatly.

As a former patient of Dr Tan I want to put these words up as a warning to anyone who reads to not see him. I had a strange reaction to one of the medications that I have taken. His professional opinion was that the medication was not supposed to cause certain symptoms. Unfortunatly, I found they did after stopping taking the med he prescribed to me. Seemed like if you didn't agree with his diagnosis it you were incorrect. Also when it came to contacting another doctor. Forget it, This was too complicated of a task for his office to handle. Most everything handled through Dr Tan and his staff was careless or they could care less. Horrible experience.

Dr. Tan allows me to participate in my treatment by keeping me apprised of my condition and treatment options. I feel comfortable in his presence, basically because he respects me as a person. I feel through his care, I have gained more control over my bipolar illness.

I have been seeing Dr. Tan for approximately 4 years. I have always found him to be extremely knowledgeable, caring, and concerned. Over the years I saw 3 other psychiatrists, and he has helped me more than all 3 put together. What I like best about him is that he truly listens to me and really "hears" what I have to say. He is not one to just perscribe medication and send you on your way. I have had many great insights about myself after our visits. I feel much better, and know a lot more about myself and my problems. I just recommended him to a friend who also loved him and will continue to recommend him to others.

Very knowledgeable and up to date on the latest research and treatment methodologies. Remembers patient information without consulting a chart and seems to genuinely care about the patient and their well being and psychiatric care.
