Dr. Alfred Distefano, MD

Kind, caring, knowledgeable doctor!

I really like Dr. D. He spends alot of time with me and makes me feel comfortable with my follow ups. I know is keeping a good eye on my remission.You do have to wait a long time while there but because he does spend alot of time with me it's ok. I know he is spending time with his other patients also.I love his assistant Cherry too! She is pretty blunt but I like that better than beating around the bush.This is the place to go if you have cancer!!!

It was ten years ago that I saw Dr. Distefano and was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. He treated me aggressively with chemo. He and his staff were so respectful of me and my family and were there for us 100% of the time. I strongly recommend Arlington Cancer Center and "Dr. D."

I am sure my husband died prematurely because of Dr. Distephano's lack of a treatment or even a treatment plan. His office staff is worse than horrible. When 2 months after diagnosis as my husband was in the hospital where dr. Distephano never came to see him, I tried to make an appointment with him. His staff laughed at me and said,"Don't call us. We'll call you 2 weeks after he gets out of the hospital. They will not forward records to anyone- not to MD Anderson, other doctors, VA. We It was the worst experience of my life.

careless, heartless, needs license revoked as soon as possible

Short version: Dr Alfred Distefano misdiagnosed my father in 1994 putting him in remission while there was still malignant fluid present in his body. Dr Distefano said it was just left over fluid from the surgery and my dad was cancer free. His lack of effort to follow up on his findings and run more tests cost my father his life. He fought his long battle of testicular cancer for 7 long years. His cancer spread to his lungs, liver, neck and back. He went through 18 major surgeries as well as nearly 4,500 hours of chemotherapy. We filed a lawsuit against Distefano and fighting to have his license revoked, we were devestated, shocked, sick, appalled to learn he had previously been suid 18 TIMES for wrongful death or misdiagnosis. We did end up with a settlement but that will never EVER make up for what he put my father and many other people through. It SICKENING to know Dr Distefano is still able to practice medicine today. He was actually quoted saying "Just another dumb jock trying to… get a chunck of money" when asked about my father and the lawsuit. The State denied revoking his license and Dr Distefano is till practicing today. Arlington Memorial loses more patients than one would think.
