Dr. Akmal has always been so friendly. I can tell when a Dr. is just going thru the motions or if they genuinely care. Dr. Akmal really cares. He has tried many different things with me and he won't give up. We may never make it right, but at least we are trying. It feels so good to have a Doctor that cares that ya feel comfortable with! There are times I find him a know it all. He recently said isn't your bp always high? I said no it's because I'm in pain. He asked how is your A1c. I said fine. He laughed. I find he doesn't always read your records and has to be alerted. When talked about a oncoming surgery he asked how long I'd be off. I said 3 months because my job has no light duty. He thought that was too long. I've never had this done. No one knows any more than told by thier surgeon. I felt belittled. I feel like I have to beg for pain meds when I've had an increase in pain. I was very upset with him after my last visit. He listens but he has a habit of contradicting what he has been told.

Dr. Akmal is such a great pain management Dr. He listens to your problems and does all the necessary test to find the problem. Then finds ways to help with your pain management.

Treats all his patients like drug addicts. Will not give you a 90 supply medicine forcing you to go back and pay co pays. Very rude and arrogant doctor. His two receptionist quit on him cause they no long can tolerate his demeanor. Changes pain medication too often and it's hard to adjust to your pain levels. The doctor after time will demand spinal injections in order to continue getting prescriptions pills or he will not treat you. He charges insurance about $1200 each for two spinal injections. He tends to raise his voice at patients and staff. That's why I decided not to return.
