Ali S Alavi

The office called me yesterday to confirm a 1pm appointment, which I repeated back to them as I entered the appointment into my calendar. Today, they decided it was at 1:40 the whole time. Then they proceeded to make my dad wait for 2 hours. The doctor finally graced us with his presence for 4 minutes, after wandering up and down the hallway aimlessly. He spent that time telling us that 1, we would wait that long every time we come to his office, 2, my father has the prostate of a 90 year old man, 3, that he should be grateful to be going to him and that he's the only one that would have gotten his catheter removed(he prescribed him drugs, not sure that requires a genius doctor, more like smart drug developers), and 4, he would need to be on those very expensive drugs for the rest of his life. Which brings me to my last complaint. That he would prescribe an expensive drug for a man for the rest of his life, when there is a well-known, and very effective means of reducing the prostate.… Surgery. Which begs the question: Why are you prescribing drugs for something that a small surgery can fix? I'll tell you why. Kickbacks from the pharmaceutical industry. This doctor is an obnoxious and rude person, and furthermore he's a snake oil salesman. I will be calling his GP, getting another referral, and requesting that they not refer other patients to this practice.

Dr, Ali has been consistently late for appointments. I have had to wait at least 30 minutes beyond my appointment time each time I've had an appointment with him. The last time was the last straw. I was scheduled for a biopsy at 9:30. I arrived early. I was prepped for the biopsy and waited 45 minutes. No one came into my room to say he was running behind. So, I decided I could wait no longer. I dressed and left the room. I told the receptionist to tell Dr. Alavi that I got tired of waiting. It has now been a week since I had the appointment, and still no call from him or his office staff to apologize. I don't not plan to see him ever again and will definitely not recommend him to anyone I know. He maybe a very learned urologist, but his concern for my time was non existent!

Updated! Months ago I went to see Dr. Alavi in Marinelli & Feldman office. His young nurse is HORRIBLE, she lacks compassion. She is arrogant, rude, she did everything possible to try and humiliation and embarrass me. She disclosed confidential medical information about my illness and treatment within hearing range of other staff members and patients. Apparently she thinks something is humorous and degrading about cancer testing and medical procedures. She has few or no people skills. She has no regard for your dignity or privacy. I will not be going back, ever. She violated the federal HIPAA privacy laws. Dr. Alavi, Marinelli & Feldman staff needs to be retrained on the HIPPA privacy laws and this nurse need to be fired. The 3 doctors need to re-evaluate office procedures and staff performance.

No one reads the charts - not even Dr. Alavi Every time my father has gone in, they always give him a urine sample cup. HE HAS A CATHETER FOR GOODNESS SAKE! Dr. Alavi didn't even know he still had a catheter or that he had had the Cold Microwave Therapy Treatment. Never read the chart before he entered the room - didn't know the medication he was on, etc. Argued with my elderly father (so arrogant) then glanced down at the chart and said Oh.................. PLEASE READ THE CHARTS BEFORE ENTERING THE ROOM - THESE PATIENTS ARE SO VULNERABLE ALREADY - HAVE SOME COMPASSION!

Dr. Alave is a good doctor. His young nurse is HORRIBLE. She is arrogant, rude, she did everything possible to try and humiliation and embarrass me. She talked down to me about my condition within hearing range of other staff members and patients. She has no regard for your dignity or privacy. I will not be going back.

I really don't have problem with Dr. Alavi. However, the office/nurse staff has disappointed me. One time i requested a copy of my last test; I received the resusts of another patient! The last visit, the nurse provided me with a container for a urine sample. I checked the name and it was for another patient with my same first name, which could have really caused problems. They are not real prompt when my pharmacy faxes a Rx refill.

Diagnosed me right away! Ran every test possible. Twice. Just to make sure he didn't miss anything.
