Dr. Ali M Dohan, MD

Dr. Dohan has been my doctor for several years and I am totally satisfied with his work. I searched for years for a doctor who sees me as a person and not just another face. Several reviews have noted that he is often late for appointments. I attribute this to the fact that he spends whatever time it takes to fully understand my problems and doesn't just rush me through. I have had a couple of serious medical issues and both times he immediately recommend me to top doctors in the needed specialty where I was treated successfully, with zero complaints. I feel that he has saved my life and greatly increased my enjoyment of it. I would highly recommend him.

I was a patient of Dr. Dohan's for quite a few years. He seemed at first knowledgeable and interested in his patients. As the years have gone on, he seems more interested in showing up late and not giving his patients his full attention. Apparently he has the poor girls in the office schedule visits before he even decides to arrive. This has caused me to take nearly an entire day off of work because even once you are in the room, there is another long wait. That's disrespectful. Whenever I was there, he didn't seem to show up until close to 1:00. What kind of doctor keeps those hours? The girls are working in a cramped area and do not appear to have adequate office supplies to do their job efficiently. The patient rooms do not seem clean and appear to be lacking basic items. During my time as his patient, it seems his answer for everything is giving someone a shot in the arm and wanting patients to return regularly to make more money. I don't believe Dr. Dohan is… interested in practicing medicine in a professional manner anymore. He has no respect for anyone's time and doesn't seem to care about treating his patients health, properly.

Dr. Dohan and the sweet ladies in his office are quite unique. I always feel at ease with a sense of peace when I walk into that office. Everybody goes out of their way to make you comfortable. Dr. Dohan uses a computer to write his notes, no scribes or strange people in the room like other offices. He takes my vital signs himself, examines me and asks lots of questions. Medical assistants review my meds, and he goes over them again himself. He gives me the time to ask questions, and listens intently. Very kind, and sharp. I feel like I get my money's worth each time I see him. Highly recommended.

A friend of mine in a law office recommended Dr. Dohan. I am a lawyer and a good judge of character, and I knew from my first visit that this guy should not only be my physician but my friend. He is sharp in intellect, eloquent, and fiercely protective of his patients. Sometimes I will get a call from him 9 pm to tell me a result of a test ! Yes, he actually calls personally. I trust him with my health. I saw in other reviews that Dr. Dohan is almost always late, but that is because he has zero respect for the time allotted, and he will give you his full attention and time. No cutting corners.

When I first became a patient of Dr. Dohan, I loved him and believed him to be a great doctor. He is knowledgeable and seems very interested and supportive; however, through out the years as a patient I felt more and more insignificant. The straw that broke the camel's back was discovering that he will make appointments BEFORE he even arrives at his office. It is ok for patients to wait up to 3 hours to see him (at EVERY appointment). I can understand running behind when you are giving the needed attention; but 3 hours without regard to your schedule is inconsiderate at best. Not to mention scheduling an appointment for a time at least an hour before he even shows up at the office and then when he did arrive, it was another wait and I was to be the first patient that day. In addition, I had a chronic cough for a couple years and each time I brought up the subject, he prescribed an ADDITIONAL allergy medication. With this in mind, after being on 5 allergy meds, I took it upon myself… to see a pulmonologist who diagnosed something entirely different, and I no longer take any allergy medication as I do not have allergies,and I no longer have the chronic cough. I just praise God that my cough was due to an issue easily solved and not a dreaded disease. (the pulmonologist gave me a couple assessments to pinpoint the problem; however, Dr. Dohan did NOT do any testing nor did he refer me to the pulmonologist if he couldn't solve the problem) I have mention his name to others and the response I receive is that he does have a reputation of providing patients with may prescriptions.

I have been Dr. Dohan's patient for several years now and continue to be well satisfied with the job he is doing. I have major health issues and I find him always knowledgeable about my problems and, if not, willing to do the research to find out what he needs to know to treat me effectively. He cares about his patients and takes the time to listen to them. In answer to the above negative opinion about the office help, I have always found both of them to be good at what they do but very busy and not always able to tiptoe around the callers' egos. I understand that to give all of his patients the care that he gives me may involve more time than typically spent by other doctors so I always take a book. Knowing that my issues have been properly addressed is well worth some extra time spent in the waiting room. I can, with confidence, highly recommend Dr. Dohan.

The first visit was crazy because there was a Medical emergency that day. My next visit was much more normal. He's vey kind, very thorough, and asked me many questions. He also remembered me and asked about my hobby as he took my blood. It was so nice to not feel like I was on an assembly line. He's personal, caring and very intelligent and up to date in his practice.

When I first went to this doctor I thought he would help me. He only focused on my weight and just kept tossing different medicines at me for that. No matter what other things I have tried to tell him was going on I just constantly feel like he ignores me and is getting paid to sell weight loss meds. Also, the wait time is horrible. I have waited 3 hours before with an appointment and the staff is really unfriendly. The new person "Kathy" (probably the person who wrote the five star review) is rude on the phone and in person. The other lady, I am not sure of her name, tries to be helpful but she can't handle it all. Just don't go here, not worth waiting your time.

I am a complicated patient with diabetes, high pressure, and irritable bowel. My cardiologist recommended that I see an internist as the "conductor of the orchestra". Many nurses recommended Dr. Dohan. What a maestro he proved to be. Up to date, compassionate, great photographer, and not bad looking to top it off. Too bad he is married. I highly recommend him. Very compassionate and spends more time with his patients that any dr. I have ever seen. Great communicator.
