Dr. Ali Safdar, MD

Dr. Safdar has been my psychiatrist for over ten years. He got to know me over the years, and always asks about my family, social life, and how my diagnosis are in relation to me being able to adjust to day to day life.

Dr. Safdar actually asked me to diagnosis myself. He couldn't be bothered to do his job. Extremely uncaring, rude and violated his medical oath! He tried to tell me I only had 10 minutes left of a first consultation appt, when I arrived 20 minutes early, and he was late. He did this in the waiting room full of other people. I was his last appointment, and I can only assume he had better things to do than work for time I paid him for. I wouldn't wish this man on my worst enemy. After telling him I have a thyroid deficiency when considering medications, and after diagnosing myself (...really?) he sent me away with a potentially life threatening medication for those with thyroid deficiency! Thankfully, I researched it before picking up the prescription. I will be contacting the Director of Associates for Behavioral Health today, requesting a full refund. I will not return to their offices. They are no more concerned about patient health than my soap dish!

He doesn't listen to you when you tell him your meds aren't helping, even when you have been taking them exactly the way he prescribed and even when it's been more than a year of being on the same medication and dosage. He's just abrupt in telling you no changes will be made. It's like he could care less about what you are experiencing and is making it clear that he is in charge and that's that. Horrible experience. I expect more from a doctor.

This doctor seems to play games with prescriptions. My daughter is now on effexor, lyrica, seroquel, valiumm, wellbutron and diazapam. I am very concerned.

I thought he was fine for years, but as my symptoms changed, he just recycled the same 2-3 drugs, taking me off of them, then putting me back on to see if they'd work again. The last straw was when had had me on Ambien for 3 years, then just cut it off with no help to get off.

Dr. Safdar is good, he is my doctor for the past one year and I have no complaints about him. His examinations are always thorough. He listens to you carefully before prescribing the medications.He always returns my calls. My friend referred me and he also had a positive experience with this doctor.
