Dr. Alice V Coghill, MD

Two horrible experiences with Dr Coghill about a year ago, and I'm so frustrated seeing other people's reviews about how cruel this person is, and that she is still practicing medicine. The practice does not respond in any way. During our initial appointment, she asked if I was sexually active (yes) and on birth control (no). She asked why, I explained my partner is a cis woman (as am I) so there’s no risk of pregnancy. Her response was “so you’re abstinent?” What?? … No? She wrote it down anyway. I was so shocked and immediately shut down, clear I was not with an LGBTQ+ literate provider, and not sure if I was safe/was going to get good care. I had to see her again for follow ups to the blood work, etc. and I cannot describe how awful she was the whole time. She interrupted my questions without listening to what I was actually asking, responding only with dismissiveness, infantilization, and condescension. When I asked about a specific test result and if I needed to be concerned about… the numbers being on the low end of normal, she proceeded to say "I don't have time to explain basic statistics to you, do you not understand ranges?" (I'd been in the room for five minutes). I sputtered and said something about having taken a class in college and was given an utterly condescending "oh wow, you went to college!" I went there when I was on medicaid and the classism and homophobia was just... blatant. Absolutely stay away. STILL so rattled by this experience it's kept me out of necessary Dr appts for over a year.

If you want to see a doctor who doesn’t like questions Dr. Coghill is for you. I don’t mean questions as in plural. I mean she can’t be bothered with even one question. At the end of our 3 minute follow-up visit that SHE requested I asked her a question and she answered with a flat-no and then ushered me right out as if my mere presence was a nuisance to her. If you want a doctor who has zero interest in being a doctor she’s for you. I feel bad for anyone who sticks with her because there is better out there. No one deserves to to have their health be put in jeopardy by someone who could not care less about her patients.

This doctor billed me for tests that I did not authorize, and that were not covered by my insurance, I went in for a general consultation and bloodwork and it wasn't until my account went into collections that I reached out to my insurance to find out that I was being charged for "exploratory testing to identify a specific issue, I did not say or express anything being wrong with me" Now I am in a battle with the credit bureau to get something removed that I never was supposed to be billed for.

An absolute embarrassment to the medical community. Absolutely horrible office. Shockingly terrible doctor. She is disgusting and filthy and looks as though she spent the past week sleeping in the streets. I’ve been to her twice now and both visits have been appalling. Awful office. You should be locked up. I know for a fact that without any medical education, I am a better suited doctor than you. You should be ashamed of yourself for the disgusting business you run. Your family should be embarrassed of you.

New to NYC and went to see her for depression/anxiety and a topical cream for a rash. She pushed an oral antibiotic on me which I try to avoid at all costs because it really tears up my stomach among other things- so I told her no that I would rather a topical antibiotic. She then didn’t even acknowledge what I said and told me to go to the front desk basically kicking me out. She does not represent medicine in NYC very well at all! I have never been so dismissed about my health concerns before! She should be stripped of her MD license. Absolutely horrible!

This Dr. Only cares about making money off of patients. She had me come all the way into her office to give me the results of my lab work. I asked her if I could be told over the phone the results and she refused statingI need to speak with herin person. I was very nervous and concerned thinking something was wrong. She scheduled an appointment a week later just to tell me my results were normal. I was charged a co pay just for coming into the office to be told all was normal. Her office kept telling me to come back in 3 months for another check up which I did not do.I would advice anyone to not go to her.

If the Wayans Brothers were to make a comedy about the medical field, they could just literally film a day in this office. My first visit: the entire waiting room smelled. A receptionist explained to those waiting "Oh, they clean the gastro machine on Fridays." After a half hour of waiting, waiting again in the exam room, a nurse comes in and takes your blood pressure three times before going to get someone else to take it because she can't figure out what she's doing wrong. Eventually, Dr. Coghill graces your with her presence, wearing a stained, filthy lab coat. A doctor wearing a coat that is filthy. Unimaginable. You present her with your problem, which is embarrassing enough as you have to be examined where no one wants to be examined, and the doctor, completely unable to contain her OWN discomfort examining your "situation" barely LOOKS before simply blurting out "I don't see anything, I don't see anything." Checking out at the reception desk is its own Three Stooges episode.

I made this appointment through United Healthcare- hoping to seek answers for an illness. I informed her of my condition and was told she could help by her office manager Wayne. Not only was the office filthy, Dr. Coghill was rude, insensitive, and demeaning. She treated my illness like a joke, and after making me wait 20 minutes, she spent barely 15 minutes with me, then abruptly left the office and had her staff come to take my blood and do an EKG. The Doctor reluctantly returned to me after the tests, and said she can't help me, but referred me to another doctor. Then after already saying she COULDN'T help me, asked that I come back in 2 weeks to go over my blood results. Um, if you can't help me, then I'm not coming back to your creepy, dirty office. On top of all of this, they charged me for a copay before I went in for the appointment. She seems more concerned with making money then helping people.

The staff is horrible and rude. I had a needle ripped out of my arm by the assistant trying to take a blood sample. Dr. Coghill made snide comments about a lifestyle choice of mine during the visit. Absolutely mortifying experience overall... I am surprised I am not permanently traumatized.
